Won't have much interest for Buffalo. Any Eichel deal is going to have to start with a young NHL roster forward, you haven't given that. From Montreal that would only be able to Suzuki, Caufield (not available), or Kotkaneimi (not eligible to be traded for 12 months).

    Montreal is not getting Eichel.

If Buffalo are interested in Romanov, the Habs should include him in the deal. I know he has the ability to play both sides, but I am not sure how good he is on his off side. A d-core built around Dahlin, Power, Romanov, Jokiharju, Samuelsson and Johnson would be nice. Lacks a few R shots but if Dahlin can make that transition as well as Romanov, you are set. Just a thought tho.

Actually, the rumor is the equivalent of 4 1st's this covers that and I would swap Poehling with Tuch or Yelonen

If you include Drouin as a 1st, that is a stretch. Yes was he selected in the 1st round, but has he performed as a 1st round pick, no. Symantics, by saying Drouin is the 4th 1st is just not what a team will accept

The first piece has to be an NHL ready young forward with 1st line ceiling. Poehling and Mysak are not it. Habs have 2. Suzuki and Caufield. They are not moving Suzuki. I think trade starts with CC and ends if he’s not in it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyone who says buf doesn't accept is delusional. No team in their right mind offers that much for one player. Just because the Canadians aren't offering their best young players doesn't mean the value isn't there. That's an overpayment for an injury prone cry baby like Eichel.

Ok cool. 3 1sts, Studnicka, Kuntar, and Coyle for Draisaitl. Taking it? If you say no you are delusional by your standards. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I am not quite sure Eichel will, at least at this moment, net the equivalence of four 1st round picks, though. Let's be fair here: Eichel has not had surgery yet. Either surgery that he receives is a serious surgery. There is a possibility that Eichel gets one of the surgeries, comes back, and plays like the all-star that we all know. But, nobody is acknowledging that it is almost equally possible that he comes back and cannot perform at his $10 million per paycheck. Furthermore, there is a possibility (however small) that he may never play again. To expect a team - without giving said team the chance to talk to the doctors working directly with Eichel - to pay the equivalent of four 1st round picks for a $10 million dollar a year player when you're unsure what the outcome would be? Take a big step back, read that statement, and then ask yourself if you want your team making that trade.

I am not saying that the Eichel from last season wasn't worth his contract. What I am saying is that, as a GM, I would be extremely nervous to trade for a player with that contract if I do not know what he's going to be like post surgery.

Just my thoughts: I think it's highly doubtful that he gets traded prior to the start of the season. A team needs to at least see his medicals. If the Sabres offer Eichel at a 30% discount ($7 million per), maybe there's a GM willing to gamble. But they just need to see the guy skate after surgery.

I feel awful for Sabres fans. I really do. I don't have skin in this game, but it's going to be interesting to see where he eventually lands and how much it cost to get him there. I also sincerely hope that, no matter what, he gets back to playing and that he's okay. smile
