Eichel

Created by: PhillyDip123
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 4, 2021
Published: Sep. 4, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Eichel would be a huge get, the draft capital would suck to lose but if Montreal thinks they're in a win-now situation with Carey Price (and Suzuki's ELC), these moves would make them better.

I don't have a super solid understanding of their bottom six, but I thought that any contract over 3 years in the bottom 6 would be prime to move instead of Drouin.

Eichel being 24 and signed to term means that any negotiations start with Suzuki or Caulfield, and since Montreal's thin on C, Caulfield made the most sense to move.

Let me know if I've done messed up with the value in the bottom 6- like I said, I don't know about the bottom 6 all that well.
Trades
BUF
  1. Armia, Joel
  2. Byron, Paul
  3. Caufield, Cole
  4. 2022 1st round pick (MTL)
  5. 2022 1st round pick (CAR)
  6. 2023 1st round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
3 firsts for Eichel (Caulfield +2), a 1st for the 7 million with term going the other way. Montreal's going to have to clear cap space to fit Suzuki's next contract and I'd be surprised if it's a top 6 player like Drouin.

Caufield and Suzuki are untouchable, why it's hard for people to understand? We finally got a n1 center of the future and finally a good sniper, why traiding them??? That's an overpriced as fck and no way the habs does this. I don't see Eichel getting trade until the Sabres realize that they're asking too much and downed the asking price.

I agree it’s and overpay as it sits, but why do MTL fans think they can get a player of Eichels stature without giving up one of Caufield or Suzuki? Why wouldn’t Buffalo hold out and demand a player like that in return.
Most MTL trades I see on here is nothing but scrubs with picks and total hot garbage. At least this is realistic even if it does teeter on the Buffalo side. Montreal fans need to accept you need to give to get!

1rst : Sabres fans doesn't understands that Eichel value dropped hard due to his injury, his surgery and the conflict. The team who's gonna acquire him is going to play without him for at least 4 months. Also, yes some people lowball for Eichel, but overall i was a lot of Eichel trades that makes sense, but people are like : SuZuKi oR nOtHiNg, which doesn't make sens.

Agree that moving Suzuki makes zero sense, I see him as more of a 1b or 2A centre so keeping him and rolling Eichel/Suzuki would be huge, but seriously, anyone should be on the market for a player of Eichels caliber.
As an aside, not sure under the CBA and league, can there be stipulations on trade pieces if Eichel can’t play. For example
Eichel/23’ 1st (conditional pick) for CC/Romanov/1st/2nd (both picks conditional) with the picks being conditional upon Eichel being cleared for play x amount of games in a set period of time? So if he is traded, has surgery but can never play again, can the Canadians get their picks back as well as buffalos. Just curious

Does trading for Dvorak negate any effort to get Eichel?
I guess if Montreal still wanted Jack they could:
Drouin, Dvorak, Romanov, Brook and the other 2022 first.
I think Buffalo could be convinced to take Byron if a CAR 3rd was added as well.
I agree, Suzuki and Caufield are off limits.
Maybe Miller is added to balance the rosters and MTL adds as well.
It is difficult to judge values, when so many pieces are involved.

This is exactly why you shouldn’t do this. just remember what happened with Gomez. We need a more close to close value of eichel and than balance.
if you start with drouin and dvorak, no need to put byron in that trade because they will take more money that they would give. we lost sergachev for drouin and our defense is getting older so we should keep romanov and brook, give them a good chance. Remember this year the draft is at Montreal so we kinda want a 1st pick too.

the more we wait the more we have a chance but not at this moment.
