I don't think Trouba quite yet has negative value but he defiantly doesn't have 1st round value.

That's not enough to convince Barkov to leave Florida

I agree he has an $8M cap hit for the next 5 seasons. I don't see him waiving for anyone until his fiancé is done with her residency.

I think thats a bit of a stretch but the Rangers return won't be close to his value if they do trade him.

In this case trouba is a cap dump. But in order for Detroit to want to bring him in we would have to move out one of our 3 RDs we would have slated for next season. I could see trouba waving for Detroit if they really pushed him but not until the fiancé is done school stuff. Also I feel like if detroit is the only team he waves for Yzerman could use that to garner a better return.

Rangers add in nils, keandre miller, kravtov, chytil and their first this year and wings take their first out. This trade is just as close as your ridiculous one

Barkov stays in Florida

I did a mock Panthers one in preparation for this and I can confirm that If the Rangers offer him this much, Florida won’t have the cap to keep him unless A) they walk away from a good portion of their roster depth and have an extremely weak bottom 6 and 6th defenseman, B) they magically find a way to trade Bobrovsky while either getting rid of his full salary or only retaining a very little bit, or C) they trade Hornqvist and potentially Reinhart which might be what they ultimately do to keep Barkov. On top of that, Florida is gonna need a defenseman and I can foresee wanting to go big on that and get another star defenseman to play with Ekblad like Hampus Lindholm or Mattias Ekholm. Plus even if Florida manages to find the cap to keep Barkov, I can’t imagine him saying no to the New York spotlight just to stay in a smaller market team like the Panthers if the opportunity presents itself. Just saying.

We have enough ELC forwards and defensemen that are NHL ready that we will not have to give up anyone too important, just let some contracts run out

Barkov will make more money here, continuing to be the face of the franchise and the #1 center on a team that is better poised for success than NY, and not everyone wants to play in that type of environment

If there was one NHL player that I would expect to enjoy the small market lifestyle it is barkov
