Wouldn’t be shocked if Matthew is asking for around Marner money

      That wouldn't surprise me either.

He needs to have a better season in 21/22. If he does I'd be fine with 9.5-9.75 on an extension. If he won't do it, then the Flames have to trade him

No he shouldn’t. Matthew had a 77pt season when he signed that deal, Brady hasn’t come close. Also 3 years would be a repeat of the Stone deal and if he doesn’t like it, he can take the qualifying offer and walk himself to free agency. That’s bad asset management. It’s 2 year bridge or 7-8 year longterm. If he doesn’t budge , you trade him, I don’t care

Ottawa was entering a rebuild when the Syone thing happened, he obviously didnt want to go through a rebuild, refer to Sam Reinhart for a similar example. Thats not the case with Brady though.

Furthermore if thr Sens are so worried about a QO they can just file for Arbitration instead

That's the "issue" with the Tkachuk family. They want to maximize their career earnings, which is their right.

That's what will make it incredibly difffuclt for Ottawa and even Calgary to keep their Tkachuk's long-term.

I think Brady wants at least Matthew's deal of 7x3, if not a smidge more. Bragging rights in the family. Then for the Flames they are close to having to offer Tkachuk Mark Stone money to keep him around long-term.

I think you are confusing the Tkachuks with the Nylanders a bit here.

The betting odds have to be a 3-year deal just like Matthew here. Ends with a juicy $9M+ qualifying offer and UFA status at the end, when the cap has had a chance to recover. And gives the player 3 years to prove he’s worth a massive extension, which he will earn.

The Tkachuks are rare breeds that every single team wants on their roster. And their agent knows what he’s doing to give them both maximum optionality in deciding their future.

Teams will line up around the block with bags of cash for Matthew and Brady if/when they become UFA. Signing $8M x 8 years leaves a ridiculous sum of money on the table for Brady, and also closes the door to him picking another team in 3 years (should he want to leave). Optionality = major value here.

$7M x 3 years seems like the only option.

I don’t think he’d sign that low to play in BUF. The organization and ownership there is a bigger sh1tshow than Melnyk and the Kanata rink. Any players with a say in where they play are avoiding BUF like the plague.

Well 3 year deal is bad asset management for Ottawa who would be trying to sign Norris, Sanderson, Stutzle, Formenton, Brannstrom, Pinto, next few years. If he doesn’t take a 7-8 year deal, bye bye

Marner got 6 years, not really walking. Matthews yes 5 years was bad. Will probably get 14 mill + on his next deal

rofl, kiss any chance of ever winning a cup, 14M lol

OTT last known offer to Brady 6x7M, he's not freaking McDavid he should make no were need 9M, if he only care about money and not winning, ship his ass out, players like that are cancer, frankly cup bragging rights are infinitely better than , tee hee i make 10M more than you.

what a bigger burn Mathew: hey brady i make 20M more than you in my career
Brady : Sorry bro i cant hear ya, i got my 2 cup rings plugin my ears.

Does any one here honestly would blame him for not signing a long team deal with a team owned by melnyk.... the guy does not want, in any way shape or form, build a cup contending team, too expensive for him, he wants a playoff making team as cheaply as possible so he can suck that playoff cash right up and Brady will not waste his prime years on a team that makes zero effort to build a cup contender. The sens have not done anything this off season to show Brady they are committed to building a cup contender. You could say they did the opposite with trading Dadonov for a 5th LD they did not need, screwing over Mete and Branny and signed another LD in Del Zotto a RD.

What would you want from Calgary?

Personally, I'd want Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin

I agree Ottawa should add then

      Actually, what about

      Tkachuk + Norris

      for

      Lindholm + Hanifin + Calgary 2nd in 2022 + ?

We need Hanifin. He is our top pairing dman and we don't have a replacement

Yeah not sure why I asked that, Ottawa doesn't even need him lol

      Tkachuk + Norris + Brannstrom

      for

      Lindholm + Gaudreau + Calgary 1st in 2022

      Gaudreau comes with an extension.

lol of course it wouldn't happen but how far/close would it be on value?

Bro that’s an overpay. We don’t know how good Norris or Tkachuk are. Gaudreau is going to be declining soon while both the Sens guys are still improving

Yeah, but would really like to get Lindholm. Gaudreau could still be good for years too, That's 2 high end players but yeah, we don't like the fact that we're getting quite "older" here

Calgary's 1st too... if they miss the playoffs, that's a high end piece.

I'm hoping Chuck Norris will be part of the solution but we're just hypothesizing here. Trying to imagine what if it comes to this?
