Description
It doesnt make sense for us to throw away our entire future for someone that we dont need (ekholm lindholm). This team is better than last years while everyone else got worse.
Lee > eberle, parise > leo, CDH > leddy, salo > greene. I dont think any of these can be disputed. So trading 1st round picks when we desperately need them is just stupid imo.

At the beginning of the year aho started at LD3 bc salo was in bridgeport getting used to the smaller ice surface. In this scenario we also dont lose anyone worth anything to waivers. (If anyone wants ross they can have him).

Calvin De Haan is not better than Leddy. Not in any universe.

Leddy was one of the worst defenseman at 5v5 last year. Hes an absolute disaster.

Has anyone heard anything from Charas camp? It's been eerily quiet. He hasn't announced his retirement which makes me jump to the conclusion that Lou's already locked him up.

the last thing the islanders need is another old slow left-handed defenseman

He can still bang and grind though. He fought Martin twice last year and won. I'm not saying sign him long term, but I wouldn't be too bummed if he signed a one year league mininum contract, as long as Lou has a back up plan.

I hope not, we dont need him especially already having greene.

I think him and Mayfield would be knocking heads every game, that pair would be brutal...lol...but honestly it's been a bit quiet, no rumors, nothing, which is a total Lou move.

If Chara’s there to alternate shifts with Bolduc or Salo, I’d be all over this. And while he’s definitely lost a step, he still contributed last year. If it’s a league minimum deal, I’d do it

Yeah but they are both slow and both arent good offensively. That would be a good pair, if you expect to be in the d zone the whole game which im not really interested in.

He was on the ice for exactly as many GF as GA (38/38) at 5 v 5. That's hardly a disaster. De Haan's ratio is much worse 22/40. It's not close.

I'm starting to believe this as well. It's not a bad move if they rotate one of the young guys in the lineup to keep everyone fresh. Chara is still in great shape regardless of his age and has a wealth of experience that would be beneficial to have around our young defensemen.

Youre basically using +/-, thats one of the worst if not the worst stat to use when talking about evaluating someone.

If he's out there 23 minutes a night against the best his conference has to offer and he goes even, then he's doing his job. He's a beast on zone entries which was the entire reason Yzerman traded for him. But i get it; you don't like Leddy so I'll move on.

No youre wrong. +/- is a terrible stat. He isnt good at all driving play offensively or defensively. Hes a great skater but not a great passer. The only rwason he didnt look atrocious was because mayfield is a beast.

True, he's lost a step, but defense is Lou and Barry's entire game plan. Charas not an elite offensive defenseman but he can still move the puck out of the zone when needed. Like others have said rotate him and Greene in and out of the line up with the kids.
