Retention on players you dump is slightly more common due to the dumping of the liability. i.e. if Buffalo was to retain on anyone it would be a dump of Skinner.

You're barely willing to pay the asking price for eichel and you want retention and a top6(ish) winger. Heres a template that might help start with 4 pieces for eichel, if your 4 pieces need more improve your 4 pieces don't add more. If its two much you probably don't really want to pay for eichel so shop for monahan. and don't think your getting retention for adding gauthier and 3rd, and olofsson isn't free.
