I'm confused by the trades. You brought in big names and then moved depth out? Are you competing or no?

Absolutely competing. I did move some important depth out as I understand your statement. But I personally believe Byfield and Kaliyev should be ready for NHL by deadline.

Walker is good. I really like him. But we need to circulate cap. Improve offensively and improve defensively. We have a lot of RD and I feel like eventually Walker will he moved in few years. So why not now. Improve on the left defense and pick up a 2nd round pick to recoup some prospects I traded away.

I think Roy would be the odd man out, tbh. I don't watch alot of Kings games but what I have seen is Walker is better. And cheaper.
Maybe I'm wrong tho.

If you’re arguing over the Reilly trade I’ll tell you know. I’ve seen many many leaf posts of even Reilly for Kempe one for one. I’ve seen also a lot of Kempe + 2nd for Reilly. I think this is fair comparing to what others listed. This might be a realistic underpay but I’m comparing to what I’ve seen on here.

You are not wrong at all quite frankly. Walker or Roy can definitely be the guy out. I think Roy is still young and getting better. Walker has already proved how good he is.

Rielly’s value if traded with an extension is more than that.

What you have seen on here does not equal his actual value, let alone with an extension.

Something like Kempe + Walker + 3rd would be way closer. And that may be slightly generous considering the Ristolainen trade.

Edit: let me explain a little more here.

Kempe = mid-late 1st.
Walker = mid-late 2nd.
3rd rounder.

Ristolainen without an extension got a top 15 pick (14th, technically 13th) and a mid-late second.
Rielly without an extension should get more than that. However, Kempe is an RFA so that adds a bit of value.

To LA:
Morgan Rielly

To TOR:
Adrian Kempe
Sean Walker
2022 3rd round pick

That is pretty close to what a “fair” Rielly deal looks like.

Now if we add the extension with LA as part of the deal the value goes up.
If LA plans on being competitive it could look something like this:

To LA:
Morgan Rielly

To TOR
Adrian Kempe
Sean Walker
2022 1st round pick*

*Conditional pick: If LA fails to make the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs they can decide to send their own 2023 1st rounder to Toronto instead*

Trading Kempe is a huge mistake, he's the Kings' best winger and it's not really close.

Toronto easily declines. Missing a 1st and a good defensive prospect

I like both Kempe and Wagner but any Rielly trade has to have a dman coming back

Agree. Any Rielly trade needs a dman coming back. Kempe is the main piece. I would say a conditional 2nd that can turn into a 1st (playoffs) since those are two quality players going to TO. However the trade with the 1st you had has a extension

Nashville isn't a good location for Walker. We already have 4 NHL RHD (Myers, Carrier, Fabbro, Benning). Due to that, I'd rather have what will be an early 2nd round pick.

leafs arent trading riley for that, take off the fourth and fifth and add a first we both know that the fourth and fifth have an extremly low chance at being anything and isnt good value for riley
