I’d rather keep Burns and his shorter contract than move him and retain salary for a winger with a longer contract.

Kings decline, they gave up good pieces to get Madden and Thomas, and both are on the cusp NHLers. Norlinder is the only piece the Kings would be interested in, and even then giving up on Thomas or Madden at this phase would be silly.

The Kings also have no room for Kulak as their lines are close to set, and he wouldn’t be a wild improvement over Moore or Athanasiou.

Want to replace Weber for the time being? Sign Chara.

Burns would be a bad idea.

Sorry for some reason thought you guys were pushing Lehkonen, regardless the Kings have: Bjornfot, Andersen, Edler, and Maata for the left. No place there either.

honest question though, the kings are starting to become overloaded at center.... they are a perfect trading partner for an org that needs c depth

I've heard this argument a lot on this site. Being overloaded at the center position is a good thing, almost every center can transition to wing, but not every winger can play center. Positional flexibility also allows a team to rebalance themselves against their opponent. The Kings famously did this when they moved Jeff Carter from Mike Richards wing to give him his own line to center, which led to the Kings winning a cup.

And playing these players on the wing is not wasting them either, when the US won gold Zegras was on the wing as Turcotte was center, but both played playmaker / took faceoffs / and defended open ice. When the Kings eventually have a line of Turcotte on Byfields wing no one is going to think the Turcotte won't be good as a winger because he will be a top-line player who could easily inherit the role as top-line center or take over his own line.
