Honestly, in my opinion Pettersson is playing like an overpaid third pair defence man. I definitely would not trade Lehkonen for him. He’s good, but he’s not worth 4M.

Agree to disagree. Pettersson is a legit top 4 defenseman. I think him playing with Petry might make him alot better. Lekohnen is currently playing 4th for the Habs. Pens could easily give him more minutes. I'm saying this trade works. I'm just arguing that Pettersson can get better with Petry

For sure he can, because Petry is way better than Marino or whoever Pettersson played with last season. With that being said, I still don’t think he would be worth the 4M in the end, also, I don’t think Montreal has enough cap space for that trade. Having Lehkonen on the fourth line just means they are deep on the wings! He could get more minutes in Pittsburgh, but I think Montreal wants to get more scoring and be deeper. That’s just my opinion.

Pettersson isn't worth the 4 mil I agree, but the reason he didnt have the year he couldve is because of Matheson. Matheson had a great season and took the top 4 minutes from Pettersson. He didnt have the chance to be as good as he was the year before. That goes for Marino too

If MTL goes for Petterson... Kulak need to be involved and 1M should be retainers well...
Otherwise MTL won't have the room for him... and needs as 3 legit LD are ready to jump in starting with Romanov, Norlinder & Guhle

How does that go for Marino? Doesn’t he play second pair behind Letang? I still don’t think Pettersson would be as good as people think, and I see it as either he gets traded, or you will have a bad contract on your team. I don’t see him thriving with anyone on Pittsburgh except Letang unless someone steps up and has a really good year. Matheson was good, but Pettersson still should’ve been better in my opinion.

I'm not sure Pettersson slots into either of the habs top two pairs. Edmunson Petry was our best d pairing last year and i see no reason to break that up. The habs are more likely to add a puck moving right shot dman if they decided they needed more depth.

Your trade offer isn’t bad. The issue is mtl has the most depth in nhl at LD. Habs have 8 LD’s coming.

Montréal can’t afford to pay Pettersson beyond this year, nor do we have any roster space for him. The habs will have to go with younger, cheaper options in 22-23 like Guhle & Norlinder if they’re going to compete.

Matheson and Ceci line was so good Sully bumped them up to 2nd pair. Marino and Pettersson were 3rd pair leaving them with less minutes and less of a chance to succeed

Montreal aint no money fo that.

Maybe a retained Petterson for Byron could be a thing. Don’t be mad at me here, I'm just trying build something starting from an impossible trade idea.

Drouin <=> Zucker FTW!!!
