I really don’t like seeing Hertl at 7 years. I really like him as a player and I think he would be a great 2c. Those last 2-3 years could be concurring. I would love to see a 7x5 because of cap restraints, but a five year deal would be 8+. Just my opinion.

not true! he wants cup and even said in an interview he would be willing to do as few as 3 years as it givers him a chance to move on if the team is no longer in cup contention.

and we have almost no use for Jones, he is really good but we are overloaded on LD
I would switch with Schnieder or Lundqvist.
And it would have to be the 2023 1st as the 22 is tied to Arizona until the draft order is finalized.

Lundkvist is untouchable and Schneider makes the rest of the package much worse, to the point where theres not much in it for the sharks

That low on Schneider? I'd press hard for Lundkvist if I'm SJ in that case, since RD is the one position they desperately need reinforcements (along with #1 young center).

You guys have so much young d. I love nils but if you included him in this package for hertl I think you're a better team. Hertl very likely brings more value than chytil and lunkvist combined will.

It very well might, but them combining for under 3¼ mil for the next 2 years, Lundkvist could very well stabilize our top 4 right off the bat (hes that good) if Trouba never bounces back and Chytil could be the 2C we were looking for the entire time and for cheaper than Hertl will be for a while

I think Chytil + 1st is a very solid baseline and I like Jones too. But Jones is redundant with our LD prospect pool.

Schneider would fit better though for us if Lunkqvist is untouchable.
Jones is the better prospect but we would have 7 LD who are NHL caliber or close. (Ferraro, Knyzhov, Kinazev, Pashinuyk SImek Vlasic)
we only have 3 RD who are NHL caliber or close (Karlsson Burns Merkley)
he may be a slight downgrade from Jones but fits a real need in our system.

this is why if I was a GM I would be willing to do the trade, I would even venture a trade for Chytil Lundkvst and weaker pick (2nd, or 2 3rds)
you guys get that 1C you need right now and for the next 5 years (if you resign him) and we get two key pieces to our future. win win trade yes/no?
remember you have to give up a lot to get premier talent in the NHL and the sharks are looking to trade him to avoid losing him for nothing.

Chytil Jones and a 1st is much more than nothing, remember you have nothing on past Ferraro and maybe Knyzhov

Vlasic should not be a regular at this point and Simek likely isn't a part of their future, also Jones can play the right side just fine

Chytil and keeping Strome is about the same cost as Hertl+Barron would be in 22-23 though give or take a bit so its not of much concern to me

Jones' play doesn't drop off on the right side from what I've seen

I’d prefer to role Chytil as 2C instead of either to keep more cap flexibility or at least until we see what he might be given how young he still is.

If things go our way we could just sign Hertl in FA and keep all of our assets
