Description
This one is for you Canucks fans.

I know this trade will not happen. I highly doubt Hughes gets moved. So no question to that. But let’s just say for whatever reason Hughes requested to get traded to LA and they said we want Turcotte as one of the pieces back. What would be the appropriate value. I’ll do what I think will acquire Hughes, please let me know if it’s too much or too little. And what changes would you make.

Canucks have no need in centre prospects so I’d think LA would have to take a cap dump back as well as send some D prospects

I wouldn't be so eager to move Turcotte, the guy is a stud. Hughes is pretty much the anchor of that defense core, so it would definitely take an overpay to get him, but man you're giving up so much here. Also in a hypothetical situation where Hughes requests a trade to a specific team, I cant help but think that team would be New Jersey and not LA

It would take a overpay for show and that’s what I tried to do here. I don’t think Kings are anywhere near Hughes book and New Jersey is definitely the place he would wanna go if anything but just wanted to do something different here

As an LA fan, I wouldn't do this trade, even if you took out Roy and the 3rd.

So inside my imaginary fantasy world, if Hughes requested to go to LA and they requested Turcotte + some pieces. What do you think is the appropriate value. I’m just trying to be a little different today.

Well being an UNSIGNED RFA all he has to do is refuse to sign and make it public LA is only place will sign. At that point if van gets an offer like this from LA we can all safely assume LA is looking for a new gm fast

Players like Hughes don't get traded. The cost would be a Kings ransom (pun intended), meaning LA would have to significantly overpay for Vancouver to consider giving him up. The package I'd be willing to give up and the package that Vancouver would accept are dramatically different.

Additionally if Hughes demanded a trade out of Vancouver and listed LA as his desired destination, then the value to acquire him would decrease significantly. If Hughes didn't want to be traded and LA just called up Vancouver and said, "Hey we really like Hughes, what would it take?" then the price would be exorbitant.

If you're making me list a proposal I'd accept, I'd say something like a lottery protected 1st, Turcotte, and Grans. Vancouver would (should?) say no immediately, but if you added anything more, I'd say no immediately.

Love the Tennyson pickup. He’s the boy. Underrated defensively and solid on the puck. Love to see that other people are giving him some love too

Really tough to say here. I like turcotte a lot. Maatta and Roy are fine I guess but don’t really move the needle at all. Bjornfoot I don’t know enough about. I know he was a high pick but is he any good?

I think the Canucks would be hesitant because they have no young defense prospects outside of Hughes and Rathbone. Hughes is on the brink of a long term deal as well. He’s probably the best offensive defensemen the Canucks have ever had so it’s just so hard to see them trading him
