Minnesota wouldn’t take eichel without 5m retention and also would never give up half this much to get him. They are very out on eichel.

What did teams expect when they called the Sabres on Eichel? of course they are going to ask for an A prospect. They have committed to it and it’s not going to change.

The stubborness of GM Adams has only driven Eichel's value down. Eichel is a tough nut to crack. He is one hell of a player, but there are way too many red flags. His neck-surgery and everything that is going on around it, his massive cap hit and reported attitude issues. Giving up a top pick+ for a guy that may not play for you until February really makes no sense for a lot of teams.

If other GMs thought the equivalent of four 1st round picks would be a fair price, the deal would have already been done. Adams is the one who must come down in his ask, other GMs have no reason to go up

good thing he’s under contract for 5 more years. It sounds like he will be ready in December after his surgery. if this report is true. https://twitter.com/tsnsimmer/status/1432680577346506758?s=21

Yes, he is under contract, but:
1) This is already a PR-nightmare. What do you get from keeping this going?
2) Eichel's NMC will kick in soon, and then he will decide where he wants to go. Now you don't get any kind of a bidding war going, so the price drops.

The plan is to hopefully let him get his surgery like that report says. Have him play 10 games with Buffalo, than it will be easier to trade him.

If your plan has the word "hopefully", it probably sucks. But yeah, he's under contract so you can do whatever you want with him

There's two A prospects, a top 6 winger, a 1st rounder and two 2nds in that package. That's more than the Sabres' original asking price

That’s why I would do the trade. I was replying to the comment saying “ This is the reason Minnesota bowed out of the Eichel sweepstakes.”

I know that... Your reply was just worded oddly which made it seem like you were downplaying the return.

The Sabres would do this in a heartbeat. The Wild? They'd walk away
