Imagine being fed up with the player when it comes to negotiating with Melnyk.

The Sens played Norris as a 1C and Stutzle in the top 6 in their first year, I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing, as long as you’re giving him decent to good wingers and not grinders

I'm hoping for something like Comtois-Zegras-Rakell...good opportunity to get Rakell some points and extract some value at the deadline if he's not re-signing.

It's not that I don't think Zegras should be playing in a top 6 role, I'd just be worried about having nobody behind him to eat the tough d-zone minutes. I'd like to see guys like Lundestrom/Steel get more of an opportunity to shine offensively. I guess we still have Derek Grant...

It’s been rumoured ottawa offered 6 x 6 and 8 x 8 but Brady wants a short term deal. Is he even worth those figures ? I think not . If he only wants a 3 year deal, you trade him

Last offer he was offered was 6x7M, idk where you got the 8x8m havent herd anything to that offer.

I wouldn't be upset with any player that hasn't reached a deal before camp. After camp begins, go ahead, be angry. RFAs without arbitration only have a few buttons they can push, delaying is one of them.

If he doesn't wanna be in ottawa, trade his ass to Buffalo or Arizona, let him see what real suffering is.

He’d be dumb not to accept an 8 x 8 and take the captaincy right now

They’re under the floor so they need to sign him for that. Hearing he wants short term and Dorion wants longterm . He wants to see where this team is at in 3 years apparently. Would be a dumb move for Ottawa to give him 3 years

the cap could be up dramatically in 3 years, I think 91.5m was some estimated models, or something around that...88? Cant remember . I can very easily see why he would want 3 years. Cash in again. His brother did 3 years, that is what htey seem comfortable doing.

GMs should never offer 3 years. The player could just take the qualifying offer and threaten to leave. And his value goes down hard as a rental.

2 years bridge or 7-8 is more ideal

found the article
https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/seravalli-nhl-salary-cap-projected-to-rise-to-82-5-million-in-2022-23/

so yeah in 5 years with the escrow it would be around the 91m based on the projection seravalli laid out.

How about changing it to a 2nd or removing 1 mill retention

If the Sens get Eichel, they don't need Henrique at all. Keep the 2nd, find another team who has a reclamation project to trade for Brown (in the Western conference preferably)

Stutzle - Eichel - Batherson
Formenton - Norris - Brown
Paul - Pinto - Sokolov
Kelly-Tierney-Watson

I don't know, I find this move kinda disrupts the progression flow. It's like the rest of the lineup won't be ready to compete as much as that 1st line would

Chabot and Norris won't be happy too as their best buddies would be gone.

I also doubt he'd refuse that. 8 x 8, captain on a young rising canadian team with his buddies (particularly Norris and several other USA players)

My thought is that he's looking for a bridge deal but the Sens absolutely want a long term deal (like Chabot)

In reality, we have no idea what is really happening. Be patient

Sorry to spam your feed with links but...

It's the agency, the GM and the Owner who are having fits. Simmer has some good friends with Newport so that's where he's getting his info. Newport, Dorion and Melnyk don't see eye to eye at all and the history with contract negotiations shows. From Karlsson to Stone to Pageau to Tkachuk.

It takes all parties involved to tango and I'm 100% with the player when it comes to squeaking out any last cent they are owed. Whether they are worth said money is another issue.

If it’s money , they can trade Tierney , replace with Kelly and give Tkachuk an 8 year deal, they’d probably barely make the floor

It's contract structure. Look how they back-loaded Batherson's deal with no signing bonuses. I'm thinking they want something similar with Brady.

I don’t get what the issue is for the player. Does it really matter if you get most of your money at the start or the end? You’re still getting the same amount of money over the same period

Wouldn't you rather more money now to say invest? Security and taxes come into play. More money now to grow later.

Look, I'd love for him to take less money. But, I'm all for the player making the most money possible because the CBA really messed (I'd like to use another term here but lets keep it family friendly...) them over.

EDIT: That Article wasn't the best example so I'm taking it out.

I think Ridly Greig might make the team out of camp or at least get 9 games

I love this kid. I don't think it's a stretch to say he'll challenge for a LW/C position out of camp. If anything, he'll get 9 games, dominate the WHL and make the WJ team. I can see him next year at the 3C position.

Me too, I see him as an "elite 3rd line LW", although he could play top-6 when injuries

But in the present scenario, after trading Tkachuk and White for a Center, we don't have as much depth on the wings... Guys like Greig, Boucher and Jarventie are pretty young. Sokolov might not be 100% ready, etc
