Well I counted 3 Canadian born players out of 27, not too bad, that's how you build a winner.

Kyle's first draft was 2018 as the GM, basically when he had full control. He wanted Aho 2015, Hunter took Dermott.

Dermott/Bracco/Timashov/Lindgren I'd take off.

But one can only wonder how well this prospect pool could look if he only had control from the get go. IMO it is one of the top 10 best today.

You massively overrate the Leafs prospect pool. Media just give it the same favorable treatment they do all things Leafs. In 3 years, Dubas hasn't managed to translate 1 draft pick to an NHL player, thats the reality of the Leafs pool.

LMFAO Hunter ruined the drafts of 2015 - 16 -17 (where you should have players coming up to contribute on a NHL team)

Kyle takes over in 2018 - Sandin (NHL player)
Players selected in 2018 that are actually playing regular mins (12)
Players selected in 2019 that are actually playing regular mins (6)
Players selected in 2020 that are actually playing regular mins (3)
Players selected in 2021 that are actually playing regular mins (0)

You realize Sandin isn't one of those players playing regular NHL minutes right?

If you look outside the first round because the teams position was quite different, Hunter was still actually a more successful drafter than Dubas. Hell, Dermott alone has played 5x more games than every single pick taken by Dubas together.
This is the reality of Dubas' drafting.

and its among the worst in the league.

You do know the reason Hunter drafted players aren't succeeding. Because once Dubas toke over he halted all of Hunter's prospects development to concentrate on his drafted players and his Euro/Russian FA signings.

This happens all the time in the NHL, new GM or new coach comes in and wipes clear the previous management's work.

Also stop pretending Dubas was not involved in the 2015 Draft process, he had a voice in the room.

I love how the argument is “Dubas doesn’t have one player playing regular NHL minutes.”

He has only made the decisions for 3 years, 4 drafts. 1 of which literally just happened, and has only had 2 firsts in those 4 drafts (15th in 2020 and 29th in 2018)

Sandin, still only 21, has played 37 regular season games and 5 playoff games where he has a total of 13 points (0.444ppg last year in 9 games) He’s averaged 14:24 TOI (14:40 TOI last year) That’s no superstar level, but it is good.

Dubas has also drafted some pretty good looking players so far.

Wish Hunter would’ve taken Aho, like Dubas supposedly wanted, instead of Dermott in 2015.

Hunter was god awful ... and so far Dubas is looking to be even worse, thats the bottom line.

I know you didn't just say hunter was better drafter

Of course you are a Hunter fan. All good. The Leafs drafting are in better hands now. Thankful for Dubas.

All are developing quite nicely

No, I said he's had better results ... of course that would make him a better drafter. Regardless, it should give you a good idea of the realm Dubas is in when it comes to drafting.

2015 Entry 4 1 Mitch Marner = 2nd highest point scorer of the Draft year.

2015 Entry 34 2 Travis Dermott = 4th highest point scorer for Dmen in his Round (out of 12 Dmen), it just hurts knowing Aho was selected directly after him.

2015 Entry 61 2 Jeremy Bracco
2015 Entry 65 3 Andrew Nielsen = of the 10 player selected around these 3 Leafs only 187 NHL games have been played, 95 games by Kylington and 45 by Kolesar.
2015 Entry 68 3 Martins Dzierkals

2015 Entry 95 4 Jesper Lindgren = 6 Dmen selected before or after him, 60 NHL games played total.

2015 Entry 125 5 Dmytro Timashov = 20 players selected in the Round have yet to play 1 NHL game.

2015 Entry 155 6 Stephen Desrocher = 23 players selected in the Round have yet to play 1 NHL game.

2015 Entry 185 7 Nikita Korostelev = 25 players selected in the Round have yet to play 1 NHL game.

2016 Entry 1 1 Auston Matthews = best player Drafted

2016 Entry 31 2 Egor Korshkov = 15th highest goal scorer in the Round, with 1 game played.

2016 Entry 57 2 Carl Grundstrom = 3rd highest goal scorer of the Round.

2016 Entry 62 3 Joseph Woll G = only 1 goalie in the whole Draft has played more than 10 NHL games.

2016 Entry 72 3 J.D. Greenway = 21 players selected in Round have yet to play 1 NHL game.

2016 Entry 92 4 Adam Brooks = 11 players selected before or after him, 1 NHL game played combined.

2016 Entry 101 4 Keaton Middleton = 17 players selected in the Round have yet to play 1 NHL game.

2016 Entry 122 5 Vladimir Bobylev = 10 players Drafted after him, 2 NHL games played combined.

2016 Entry 152 6 Jack Walker
2016 Entry 179 6 Nicolas Mattinen = only 2 players Drafted in Round 6 and 7 combined have played in more than 50 NHL games.
2016 Entry 182 7 Nikolai Chebykin

2017 Entry 17 1 Timothy Liljegren = only 2 1st Rd Drafted players played less NHL games than him. (no hiding the fact this pick sucked, but after a little research, he was projected to be a Top 5 Overall pick heading into the year before the Draft, he got sick and dropped to 17th)

2017 Entry 59 2 Eemeli Rasanen = the next 8 Dmen Drafted after him, 0 NHL games played.

2017 Entry 110 4 Ian Scott = 5 goalies Drafted ahead of him, 0 NHL games played combined. (too bad Swayman was Drafted directly after Scott, ouch )

2017 Entry 124 4 Vladislav Kara
2017 Entry 141 5 Fedor Gordeev
2017 Entry 172 6 Ryan McGregor = only 2 players (out of 90 !!!!!) selected after Kara have played more than 10 NHL games.
2017 Entry 203 7 Ryan O'Connell

It also was Mr. Dubas suggestion to trade down in the Draft to get 2 extra Draft picks rather than selecting 24th Overall (Konecny) during the 2015 Draft.

So YES MR. ACGM's it's super easy to scout and Draft teenagers.

Mr. Hunter is NOT awful.

Thing about dubas picks I when we're competing it's hard to give them a good long enough shot to make the team. Like sandin and Liljegren and Robby. All could be nhlers right now fully (maybe not Robby but hopefully this year) but we kept them down to develop even more.

Now we have Robby on 3 years elc left which can help the Cap problems alot if he can get top6. And these rest of the pick are developing nicely. Some faster than others but still nicely. Adding in to the players dubas and staff plucked out of nowhere Rubins Kral Gogolev etc

I fear Robertson will not make it, Dubas adding Ritchie and Bunting to replace Hyman and Galchy has stolen a top 6 spot for Robertson, now all the stress and pressure is on Nick to outperform 4 proven NHL'ers (Engvall and Mikhey too) and it becomes a sink or swim position for him. I think he cracks mentally (especially seeing what his bro is doing with the Stars) and will need to be moved to a new team (TDL bait to chase the Cup, like Dubas trading 6 Draft picks last TDL (1, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6) on 4 rental players (Foligno, Rititch, Hutton, Nash).

I don't know how Gogolev never got Drafted with the numbers he put up. That's an odd case.

I mean yea that's the reality of it. Robby would have a nice return especially 3 years left at 20 years old. I think if he gets a shot he runs with it.
