2nd line forward with 30 goal upside or an average 3rd pair D. Seems like an easy decision.

The Leafs already chose to keep Holl over McCann and where does the 11.6% come from?

Both Teams. If Toronto wanted McCann over Holl they would've protected him in the expansion draft. Seattle needs forwards not defensemen.

Under possession metrics. The leafs scored on 11.6% of their shots when Holl was on the ice, which inflates is GF/60 numbers on WAR and RAPM charts. Admittedly, his on ice save percentage was also pretty low, but even when you look at expected goals against instead of actual goals against, he still regular performs poorly.

People honestly need to understand this move from a in depth hockey perspective.

Dubas had to protect Holl

Look at how this years free agency went for DMan. People were overpaying them like crazy especially RD. Like Tucker Poolman is making 2.5mill when he really is a 7th dman on any other team. If there was someone who could cost Dubas at most 2mill and could do a better job then Holl for sure he would have went 7-3-1 but there wasnt.

Sure McCann not joining the team sucks but we have no idea if he would have even done well for us.

It came down to Kerfoot or McCann and Seattle chose McCann. But smart move on Dubas to make sure Seattle couldn't have both.

Genuine question, what does Holl do better than Poolman? Why would you imply Holl is better?

Just let these charts do the talking. Holl yes has a low finish and g/60 but he was played in a more shutdown role with Muzzin so that was to be expected.

In general when it comes to providing some offense, eye test, and defensive ability in a shutdown role Holl is the go to guy over Poolman especially against dangerous competition. Just ask Mcdavid lul

We sure that Holl is better at preventing chances against compared to Poolman? We sure he is a better shutdown man?

Also, I couldn’t imagine what would happen if Poolman had to hard match McDavid in say, a playoff series. The oilers would probably sweep the series I bet…

Remember your comparing a guy who was playing 3rdpair minutes to a guy who was playing 20minutes a night. Of course pooleman would do well under less pressure. I get it your trying to justify the signing and contract but the truth is pooleman is now the most overpaid 6th/7th type bench dman in the NHL. There's no defending that contract and jets fans are getting a laugh out of it. Ask anyone and they would agree in terms of Holl vs Pooleman Holl is the better choice. Less money and more consistent player. Jfresh's charts point that out pretty clearly

Yeah and evolving wild’s RAPM show a different story. Both WAR and RAPM adjust for minutes played and isolate for both quality of teammates and competition.

Poolman had better defensive out puts from XGa/60, CA/60, GAR EvD, and xGAR EvD.

You have to look pst just ONE analytical chart that someone posted on Twitter.
