Buffalo adds

Eichel to Ottawa
Tkachuk to Columbus
Laine to Buffalo

Of course I’m not serious, but look at this and ask yourself, would you trade a good player for Laine? I wouldn’t.

Laine gets paid $7.5MM for 21/22
Laine gets QO for $7.5MM for 22/23
Laine is an UFA for 23/24

Here's the thing Tkachuk we all like him because he's very physical and has some leadership skills but offensively he's OK-good, Laine could score 40-50 goals any season but he's not physical and not much of a leader - I don't think either of then are very good defensively - I at the moment think Laine is a little underrated and Tkachuk is a little overrated but overall would rather have Tkachuk, just want to see what the general ACGM mode is.

Brady's offense is actually great, the problem is its really only just been him. Even last year when he had some decent teammates it was more of "these guys have really good potential" than "these guys are really good." As soon as rhe team around him develops he should become a 40 goal scorer on the regular.

For a guy who leads the league in shots, if he gets lucky for 1 year, he should easily score 40

I like Laine and he has all the talent in the world but it just seems that he doesn't GAF on 70% of his shifts. Tkachuk on the other hand exudes the GAF on every shift, and if he's not scoring he's hitting, fighting or getting in peoples faces and making it uncomfortable for the opposition. There's no way Ottawa does this deal.

Yeah I get that I just wanted to see how far Laine has fallen - you know it wasn't so long ago Laine was considered the next Alex Ovechkin

Yeah, I hear you. His first year was incredible. Who knows, he might have a bounce back season with the new coach in Columbus. Maurice and Torts aren't exactly coaches that let young guys make mistakes and the style of game he plays, he's going to make mistakes.

He’ll bounce back. Was dealt into a nightmare of a situation in Cbus last year, for all involved. And for all the talk of Laine being a **** player now or something, the bad part of his resume from last year boils down to a **** stretch in the last 25 or so games of the year (a lot in a truncated year, I know).

Even if he has another poor season with CBJ, I think the trade market for him will be good, if he’s traded. The acquiring team knows he’d be more inclined to accept a short, team friendly deal, while also knowing he has a resume that includes 150 goals. At age 23. So it’s not like he’s a bust or completely useless.

As for this trade? OTT would be better off with Tkachuk. Laine is all offense, and would be a good add if they were already a playoff contender. Not to mention the amount of team control.

For where they are, Tkachuk is the better player. CBJ would have to add.

I personally believe Tkachuks upside is similar to Bobby Ryan’s Anaheim numbers, 35 goals and 60+ points, which will make him the 2nd line LW behind Stützles upside of 80+ points as the 1st line LW
