SJ is probably desperate to get rid of Kane, but I don’t think “give up a Top-10 pick” desperate.

The Sharks wouldn't pay us a first to get rid of Kane's contract, especially if he's playing in our top 6 once he gets here. They're likely looking for value coming back to them, as Kane is still a good hockey player.

Zero chance the Sharks trade a lotto pick to get rid of their best offensive player. Personal issues aside, that would be one of the worst examples of asset management that we've seen in a long, long time.

what is Kane worth? It seems his investigation won't be conclusive one way or another but he's not wanted in SJ lockeroom.

The sharks will not pay to trade Kane Worse comes to Worse if he doesn't join the team he will be sent down to AHL Barracuda until the end of the year when he is bought out. It's likely they will try to work out their issues and Kane will play for SJS - if not, minors.

I feel like his value is lower than it would be without the controversy (obviously) but still fairly positive. If a team really wants him, they could probably pay anywhere from a Dvorak-type package to a mid-round pick, but teams are probably going to lowball SJ because of the lack of offers. I don't think many other GMs are willing to pay significant assets to pick up more controversy.

Kane is a top line power forward on most teams. Personally I'd accept a B prospect or 2 plus a 2nd or something. Also what happens with Kane has a major impact on what happens to Hertl. Sharks have a lot to sort out.

Hard to really say...can't see SJ paying to get rid of him though. No way they "win" a trade, but they really should be paying to get rid of him.

Im gonna go against what other people are saying. Even with a 1st I don’t want Kane in Detroit. I understand he is talented. However I believe the morale and locker room winning mentality is worth more. It’s rumored players are saying they won’t resign if Kane is there. To me. For me personally, There is no draft value you can attach to that to make it worth it.

Yeah, I read that about him and Hertl. Do they have a bromance or does Hertl want him gone?

I cant believe anyone is seriously considering putting kane and eichel together again! Hope the eichel offer gets beat but its acceptable, sanjose can't afford to give up picks and doesnt need cap space so why?

YES! Are you assuming because a team is losing they are ok with it? They don’t WANT to win? They’re ok with a cancer on the team who doesn’t give a rats ass about anything but himself? Sounds just like an Yzerman guy! Get real. Even when a team is in a rebuild it’s imperative to instill a winning mentality, a team first mentality, THATS HOW YOU GET TO WINNING

No Kane not even for a high first. I understand there’s a lot of people who would do it. Personally I would not

Echoing others here, SJ won't give up assets to get rid of him. I could see a package of conditional mid-rounders, maybe a B prospect.

The guy is a top-line forward in the league, and would absolutely benefit a competing team - if they're willing to take on his off-ice baggage. $7M is a high cap hit, but I even think its not bad considering the output you are getting from him.

It could be an interesting move for a rebuilding team to take him on, but I think the only way they should do it is if they really think they are one T6 winger away from competing, or they truly believe they can rebuild him and flip him for a good asset in a year or two. I just don't think there is a market for that right now.

I could see NSH or MIN trading for him, if they can get him for pennies on the dollar. They've both got cap space (Kaprizov permitting), and NSH is still a WC team IMO, and MIN really is, I think, a good piece or two away from being scary.

Is the league going to let Kane play?

If they do is anyone going to want to play with Kane?

You've added about 5yrs to Detroit's rebuild with that Eichel trade.

If Hertl is moved then we need to keep Kane. If Kane is moved then we keep Hertl. We cannot afford to lose both. There was a poorly transcribed/translated interview with Hertl in Czech that some idiots misconstrued as Hertl being mad at Kane and not wanting to play for SJ. (if you read the interview it sounds nothing like that) Clickbait, it was.

I think the Sharks organization will find a way to make it work with Kane.

The leagues investigation was stalled due to not being able to interview Kane's ex wife (who originally made the allegation) but the league also said they found no abnormalities in Sharks games with gambling. It's likely he is cleared of this.

So essentially the article was spreading this idea that Hertl doesn’t want to play with him? Every time I’ve seen someone mention it they say Hertl was mad about the incident but not if he’s mad about being on the trade block or staying so that helps clear that up a bit (so somewhat vague to me).

the thing is nobody has ever said he is on the trade block, in fact, it's always been the opposite.

Hertl has never been on the block. There's been zero indication that SJ wants to trade him, that was a fan creation. It makes sense to move him but also makes sense to keep him. But again, he's not on the block and wasn't ever on the block. That has been confirmed by all three of the sharks beat writers (peng, kurz and pashelka)

That sentence reads weird, I mean Kane being on the block and not Hertl. I can’t read Czech article since it was behind a paywall and the language barrier but it always seemed weird to me people would say how it effected Hertl but not whether Hertl wanted him gone or to stay which is why I thought it was vague.

Ah, that makes a lot more sense.

Pretty much everything has come from speculation from Kurz that since he is reportedly one of the players upset with how Kane has been able to get away with stuff, that he might not want to resign.

The czech interview was basically him saying he hasn't heard from the Sharks yet about resigning, and hasn't made up his mind yet if he wants to return (fair at this point). He briefly mentioned how Kane has an amazing year on the ice, but has struggled with personal problems off the ice.

That's cause info is scarce. I think the league wanted this quiet.
