It might be fair value, but the Leafs are in need of defensive depth. The 3rd does nothing for them right now.

I don't understand the McCann trade. Now that we have Parise (he's speaking to Isles reporters today), the last thing we need is a forward. We really, really need to wisely spend whatever cap space we have on a top-4 LHD. Dermott is probably a #5 right now.



We've seen a ton of Toronto fans offer this. I'm for it from an Isles side.

I'm not saying it's strictly isles fans posting it, I would imagine Leafs fans are posting it as well. Although it just doesn't make sense from the Leafs standpoint unless they are certain they have two defenders ready to make the jump to the NHL level. Which they don't at this point.

Yeah, I never fully understand the proposals myself. Toronto's biggest weaknesses, by far, are defense and depth. Dermott provides both at a reasonable cap hit.
