Saros is waaaaaaaaaaay too far down, even with Rittich as the backup.

Two things guaranteed.

You got the 1st and last right. And people will argue the rest.

Habs fans will argue the first…they’re wrong. Even if Allen is much better than Elliot.

I was trying to balance it out. I would take Vasilevskiy over Price and Allen combined

I think a lot of this ranking is the Starter carrying the backup more than the tandem being good. For instance Lehner/Broissoit over Shesterkin/Georgiev the backup in NY is way better than the backup in Vegas so IMO the Rangers tandem is better than the Vegas tandem just cause it is more balanced. Also Ulmark/Swayman tandem is ranked waaaaaay too high and Toronto and Carolina's tandems are a couple spots too low. Again these are just my opinions based on what I think a tandem strength definition should be.

I mean Saros is better than Binningtom and Husso is not a good goaltender at all. And Hart had one of the worst seasons for a goalie in recent memory + Jones just got bought out after multiple disappointing seasons with SJS. I’ll easily take NSH’s tandem over them. There are others, but those seem like two easy examples — I mean, Bob and a rookie goalie are at 8. Knight will be good, but he’s totally unproven, and Bob is what he is at this point.

Just chiming in for the sake of discussion:
-Carey Price was certainly a revelation for the first 3 rounds of the playoffs, but are we going to ignore that both he and Allen were below league average goaltenders during the regular season, and that both have put up subpar numbers in 3 out of the past 4 seasons? If we're throwing Gibby and Stolie in the bottom 3rd of the league, I don't know how you can put Price/Allen at 2OA.
-I'd also say that the Freddie/Raanta duo is probably rated too highly here, though there's certainly a good chance that they put up better numbers behind that team...
-Carter Hart/Martin Jones? Big 'ol yikes...Hart has a super high ceiling, but those two were both awful last year.
-Saros/Rittich should be higher.

I’d take Hart going forward over Saros all day. So would every GM in the league. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If there was one big slight it’s the Rangers at 16. Igor S is one of top 5 goalies in the league. Georgiev is ok backup.

This is best tandem right now, not future…

I bet if you asked them which one they want to start their next game, they’d lean heavily towards Saros.

And who is to say Saros won’t continue to be better than Hart? He is right now. 155 games with .920 sv% compared to 101 with .905 sv%.

I still like Hart and think he’ll get it together, but he’s not a 10 starting goalie in the NHL right now — Saros is.

I like Saros, he’s not a top 10.. He’s bordering it, so are alot of others you could argue for as well.

Whose to say Hart does not shine this year? That defense in front of him was god awful last year. Be interesting to see how much of his confidence they destroyed.

I mean, I’ll take the guy who lead a bottom 10 team to the playoffs single handedly last season with an unprecedented second half of the season. Saros was on another level to every NHL goalie in the second half last season.

Who are your top 10 starters?

Well, taking a closer look i have a top 8. After that you can start arguing and he’d be right in that mix. So ya, i could see backend of top 10. 👍🏻

I would as well take Vasilevski over Price and Allen, however you comparing tandems to starters and backups. For me if you are going to do that you have to assume that the backup from a starter/backup perspective will get in a minimum of 25 games like a true tandem would. Then the question becomes is the backup strong enough to carry the team over those 25 games. In the case of Tampa over Montreal, I think they can but in the case of a Vegas over Toronto or New York Rangers I don't think they can.

Leafs have a pair of 1B’s. I don’t like either as a true #1 but both are better than a backup as well. Never been high on Georgiev but he’s no worse than Elliot and Igor S is a stud. I honestly don’t know what to make of Vegas tandem. It could go either way. I don’t like it as much as some do. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I think Allen is best #2 in the league.

Price/Allen shouldn't be 2nd unless you count playoff stats, Hellebuyck, Gibson, Saros should be higher

You can’t put Tampa Bay at 1 but Winnipeg at 14. Vasy isn’t that much better than Hellebuyck, and Elliott isn’t that much better than Comrie.

On top of that they got Florida at 9 and somehow Minnesota at 29. HUH

Talbot by himself was way better than Bobrosky or Knight this season especially in the playoffs. Like he was the main reason that series went to 7 games against Vegas getting 2 shutouts.

In general Florida's goaltending should be much much lower and Minnesota's should be higher as Knight is still unproven and Bobrosky is below average at best.

Boston way too high. Minnesota at 29? If Vasilevskiy can carry Elliot that hard then WPG should be higher. Hellebuyck is probably 2nd best goalie in league. FLA is too high unless Knight takes off
