Subban for Debrusk rumor also makes no sense.
But combined, there is a sliver of plausibility.

The Rielly trade makes absolutely zero sense. Trade for a worse pending UFA then the one you already have? Unless it's a significant player or draft pick accompanying him, there's just no reason.

Basically said they haven't had any discussions about anyone that's only got a year left on their deal. That's pretty standard for Dubas. He's shown a disinclination to deal for rentals in the past, which I support. Last he really went against that supposedly because of the expansion draft, which I didn't agree with, but seems to be back to his old ideology.

Really it would only nix Subban. I think it was in the context of bringing someone into the fold, and Debrusk remains an RFA, and even though he said 'one year left', it seems pretty likely that he was referencing the expiration of rights.
