Second deal would put PIT well over the cap, they can't afford that.

You'd need to keep Lucic (it significantly devalues the trade), but still trade JG. For a centre! Neither Brady or Coleman are C's.

Your second trade needs to ne re-thought.

Ottawa isn't short on any kind of prospects. Doesn't mean they should close the door on certain types. When you rebuild, value is way more important than filling positions of need. There's no limit to trades you can make so there will be other opportunities to fill positions of need.

I personally like this return for Ottawa IF it comes down to have no choice to trade Brady Tkachuk (very unlikely)

Monahan would contribute right away, maybe he would fit and be extended for a few years, or then traded again down the road. Connor Zary is a pretty good prospect and you can never have too many centers. Välimäki is a pretty good young asset, he's LD but gives Ottawa options and more ammo to make another trade. A 2023 1st round pick is a great asset too, and who knows? Could easily end top-10 if Calgary struggles

Dmen arent worth anything, especially when youre keeping the 6 best and Dorian said theyre no longer rebuilding

Stopped reading. I thought everybody knew that quality D-men was the hardest pieces to find (particularly RD) so the more you can produce, the better.

thats a terrible take. D-Men are worth a ton.

besides your assertion that the assets would be gone is wrong. you get an a prospect who hasnt eaten into any of his years as an RFA. you get a future mid to late round 1st under control for atleast 7 years. Valimaki is an RFA who is better than any of Ottawa's defense prospects and is also and RFA under control at the end of his contract and then you get 2 years of monahan who if he doesn't agree to sign an extension can be shipped out for prospects or picks whenever you want however id say ottawa has as good a chance of signing monahan as any other team. Monahan played is junior for the ottawa 67s so hes familiar with the city and organization
