We absolutely should have waited for Seth Jones in free agency. I guess the management was very impressed with how the team stayed competitive during last season (for reference, they stayed competitive by beating teams that they should have beaten, and were outclassed otherwise) and decided that they would load up for one last run with the core. If that was deserved we will just have to wait and see.

    CBJ thanks Stan the man!!!
We got a Boqvist, a Bean, and a Sillinger out of that deal.
Not to mention a high pick next year (or the year after).

I think we're better off moving Johson, buying out connely, not signing hertl and using the money to sign a LD and a lower tier forward or two. reichel should also be stepping in soon and lets hope he can be a difference maker for us somewhere in that top 9

I know, but I don't know the direction the Hawks want to go with Dach. Having options is a good thing.

IDK. I don't disagree with you on the LD...I just think we can develop atleast one of ours to play the #2LD at a high level. Agreed on Reichel, but I would prefer to be patient and not expect too much from him.

Boqvist should be good for you guys down the road..
he hadn't quite lived up to expectations in CHI and needs to work on both defense and endurance, but he'll get there eventually. Don't expect much from Bean. As someone who follows both the Hawks and Canes...he's an AHL beast, but poor defensively in the NHL. He's 100% worth giving a chance, but Bergevin and Bowman both passed on Bean in years past...Seattle passed on him at expansion (which is a big deal because Francis drafted him) and CAR traded him for a 2nd rounder...which by its very nature meant that's the most they could get for him.

I agree that Hawks should have waited to spend 9.8m on a UFA...and not necessarily Jones. Seven years for Hertl too many.

There isn’t going to be a taxi squad next year so you’re over the cap since 1.125M is added from Connolly.

He will be waived...AHL or terminated contract.

AHL puts you at a 20 man roster with no cap space and how are you going to terminate the contract?

Dude, chill. Ok, AHL puts me at a 20 man roster. Got it. If he refuses to go to the AHL then terminat him...not likely, but has happened before. Maybe the buy him out??? Maybe he scored 40 goals and gets traded for a 1st round pick? Least likely option, but just like the trade value of Strome (above)...not the point of the post.
