Could get an interesting offensive chance while Gourde is out. Perfect low risk signing for a team that will need offensive threats to emerge.

I still believe in Donato. I hope he kills it with SEA, though I might be setting myself up for disappointment once more...

Could easily see him potting 15-20 goals this year. Expansion teams often have guys like Donato break out

How were more teams not in on this?

I wish cbj was. I still see a lot of potential for a very good 3rs liner there

There nothing wrong with this in a vacuum but Seattle is going to lose at least one good player to waivers.

The signing is fine but they are just actively going out and making a mess of their roster with so many guys needing waivers, they will lose guys they could of flipped for picks or actually used those picks for good assets instead of those questionable selections

Such a weird mix of moves by Seattle,

He's overrated on this website, and this might push a more important player out - but its hard to deny that this is a no risk signing.

They better start dealing some forwards if they don't want to lose them on waivers.

I’m really rooting for this guy, this is the 4th team he’s going to be on and he’s only 25. He obviously has skill but just can’t seem to find a team to settle with long term

He has the tools to be an okay middle-6 guy but his skating and inconsistency holds him back. He really struggled toward the end of the season with San Jose, but let's see what he can do with Seattle.

Surprised he couldn’t get more than league minimum, but that just means it’s a good value signing by the Kraken. Hopefully he finds a stable spot in the crowded forward group in Seattle.

Low risk, low reward.

4th team in 3 years.

Seattle is really searching for pennies in the couch's cracks.

Donato is seriously underrated. When given the chance, he can be a really good depth player who also happens to be crazy good on the powerplay when its suitable. Not sure how Seattle is planning on running it, but this could have a really good return for them.

Every year people worry about this with [insert team with too many players] at [insert position] and it almost never happens. Two or three players at most, usually goalies, get snapped up during the pre-season roster crunch to get down to 23. Best waiver add in past few years has been Rudolph Balcers, which kudos to the Sharks, isn’t saying much.

The thing is, teams would then usually have to waive a player of their own (or take away a spot from a waiver exempt player who needs ice time in the NHL). What 14th best forward or 8th best defenceman on any team would YOU pick up on the waiver wire knowing you have to drop another player off your roster?

Seattle is slightly different because they already had a too large roster right after the Expansion Draft, with only Joey Daccord being waivers eligible. As an expansion roster they have pieces that were enticing enough to be selected. As an example, if Kole Lind is put on waivers, I bet Vancouver would be one of the teams interested in bringing him back.

Same with D’s Cholowksi, Borgen, Cale Fleury are all extras and waiver eligible

I guess Depth, Donato has the offensive skill but his defense is lacking and he’s turnover prone
