Ready to GO GO GO

Created by: TCMonkey
Team: 2021-22 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 13, 2021
Published: Sep. 13, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think this is fair value for Kadri. He and Tierney are both UFAs but COL is creating some cap space AND gets a 2nd round pick too.

Logan Brown has been qualified so if he wants to skip camp and go to Russia, let him. It's not like he's leaving a hole in the line up...

LOVE THE FORWARDS. All 4 lines would be so fun to watch. Our D is a work in progress still, but with JBD and Brannstrom being added after the deadline, and Sanderson after UND is done, we're moving in the right direction.

avs decline, they arent downgrading their 2C. Retaining salary adds 0 value when its days before camp, avs dont have any RFAs to sign, they have current cap space and there is no one to sign in UFA.

You want kadri, you have to give something the avs would want, and a downgrade in Tierney is not that

It's a good thought on Kadri, but has Coga suggested ...the win now Avs probably want Kadri.
I'm wondering if the Sens might overpay a UFA like Bozak might be good fit. Seems to be a great teammate and besides his play, might be good mentor to Norris and Pinto....both I think have star potential

if they did that trade for connor brown and added to him..sure I could talk myself into the merits of that type of move....as the avs would believe in newhook is ready for 2C and they get the additional year of Browns contract.

But other than that, Ottawa has nothing they available that would even be tempting for Kadri. Its mind boggling that people on this site think a cup favorite is going to trade their 2C for lesser parts

I'm not doing the proposed trade in the OP if I am Colorado but Ottawa wouldn't do Connor Brown for Kadri too, even less if Ottawa would have to add.
He has 2 years at 3.6 which is a pure bargain while Kadri only has 1 year at 4.5 (although would only 2 M$ for this season)

I think Connor Brown is still very underrated. So I am repeating these facts just to inform people, spreading the Brown love. Connor Brown is approaching Selke Winger level

- He was 2nd in takeaways last season (behind Mark Stone of course)
- He received Selke votes (17th)
- Total beast on the PK : routinely gets more scoring chances than the opposition
- used heavily in a defensive deployment (34.0 oZS% vs 66.0 dZS%) but still provides good offense (61st for Even Strenght Points among NHL players since 2019-20)
- He has scored at a 24 goals/50 pts pace in Ottawa (127 GP)

His speed, non-stop motor and flawless work ethic is a beautiful thing to watch. With only a 3.6 AAV for 2 more seasons... way too valuable for Ottawa.

I am expecting him to be extended next year.

youre missing the point...I mention brown bc its what could the Sens offer that realistically could catch their attention to consider moving a very important piece in their top 6 for. Not saying Sens have to do that to get kadri or that they should but Cup contending teams are not moving their 2c for a pending UFA and a draft pick.

Until Eugene is willing to pay Market value for non core guys (he never does) I can see a scenerio that they move Brown down the line. He wont pay his UFA dollar amount

Totally right on Melnyk, anything is possible. It'd be stupid to let go a guy like Brown because of Money. He's the ideal guy to have on your 3rd or even 2nd line if you want to contend.

And also agree that it doesn't make any sense anyway for both teams to do a Brown-Kadri swap as both are very important to their team. It would be a lateral movement at best. Once Newhook is fully ready the Avs won't have to worry about top-6 centers for a long time. I'm very high on him, higher than Byram and Caufield for example. Habs think they got the "steal" of the first round but it's going to be Newhook, selected right after.

newhook is key to the avs success. There is a high probability he hits his potential, the guy is a legit NHLer, but cant be messing around getting ahead of themseves moving Kadri. They need him

The ottawa kadri stuff is always puzzling to me, I guess the fan base, well some of it, took garriochs pondering article in teh summer as gospel. I dont see any a reason why either team would ever want to discuss a deal around him, it does nothing for both sides

I think it goes back to the 2009 draft with Murray (Sens) trying to see with Burke (Leafs) what could be done and if he was going to get his guy (Kadri). But Burke let him knew right away that they were taking Kadri.

I was at the Bell Center that day, should have brought my golf binoculars!

I wouldn't give all that up for one year of Kadri.
