Honestly, Gallagher is on a horrible contract, injury prone player and starting a 6yrs contract. Norlinder is a project as a prospect. Ylonen is a good prospect here nice piece for a trade but if u do that kind of trade we dont have any more place for him.

The 1st is a no brainer.

If I'm MTL I'm doing this

Most of Gallagher's injuries are a result of blocking shots literally any player in the league could have suffered them, that does NOT make him injury prone that makes him dedicated defensively. His contract is about what you expect for a 28 year old multiple 30 goal scorer and while it might not age well it is still fair value right now. BTW Boesser and Gallagher not only play similar games but also put up similar points so a 1 for 1 trade makes the most sense but it is a lateral moves that neither team makes.

The thought that his injury history is an issues is irrelevant either he is playing or he is on ltir and his cap hit doesnt matter. His value to the habs is massive, if he dressed for 75 games he will close in on 30 goals like he always does, he is a great 200 foot player and does a great job of taking a lot of attention from opposing players when he is on the ice. His contract is on the high end for what he brings to the stat sheet, but when you factor in all he does on and off the ice its a contract the habs are more than happy to live with. So theres that,
Norlinder was a project prospect, two years ago, he is probably capable of playing in the nhl this upcoming season but i wouldnt be surprised to see him put in one more year in europe but he will be an nhl dman very soon, with lots of upside and could easily slot into the top 4 in a few years.

This all to say that are needs are not on the wings, they are down the middle this deal makes very little sense for mtl i think we lose in the short term and long term if even one of Ylonen or Norlinder pan out and i think they both will find an every day roster spot on the habs in the next few seasons.

Ironic for someone with this username to decline a Scorer on fair value...

This is why y'all don't have scoring - you won't pay up for it haha.

Nonetheless, I can't deny that Gallagher is not being moved and is almost certain to retire a Hab. After that, Vancouver isn't motivated to move Brock for any package MTL can offer. He will be staying.

would be happy to pay to ADD scorring
Brocks last 4 years goal totals: 23, 16, 26, 29
Gallaghers last 4 years goal total: 14 22 33 31

That not adding goal scoring its a sideways move.

Gally will not produce 30 goals anymore. Brock is only 24

This is why context matters. Brock is rising upwards as a young player entering his prime, and the other player was at his prime and is rounding a corner - now used in a checking role and not a scoring one.

Gally was on pace for 30 and 32 in the previous two seasons. That's while playing with Danault.

IF (big if) Gallagher were to go to Vancouver, it would be to give him to a contender while Montreal rebuilds.
Reverse that package and forget Boeser in that case.

Woo (RD is a need), a 1st, Myers (cap only), and another piece or two.

gally wont produce 30 goals based on? you can make any statements you want but when they arent backed by any logic their irrelevant. Gallagher was on pass for 37 goals in 82 games, and was injured because he was hit by a shot not exactly something you reinjure. and since evans will most likely be the key defensive center on the 3rd or 4th line, gallagher will have much more favorable situation because he wont be tired to Danault. Point being i would add one of the three pieces to gallagher in that trade at most other wise i see no upside for MTL to give away two promising prospects, their heart and soul player in gallagher and a first for a potential 30 goal scorer who very well could be outscored by gallagher next year.
