Byfield > Power

Vilardi, Clarke, Iafallo, Kempe, + 1st is too much for Eichel.

Bad trade for LA.

Karmanos would jump out his seat if Blake made that offer.
Take out Vilardi and either of Iafallo or Kempe and it would be closer to fair IMO.

Byfield > Power

Bad trade for LA.
Here is skinny
Power >=< Clarke, I would take Clarke as he is a RHD
Iafallo was born in Western New York, has four years remaining at only $4KK/yr and would be a great piece to have if the Sabres were competing next year as he can also PK, but he will be 28 in December and he his age may be at the upper range for Buffalo management.
Kempe is another really good piece, he is a center and he can also PK, Buffalo needs help in this area.
While they only scored 13 and 14 goals respectively, those totals were 2nd and 3rd most on the Kings team
IMO, that is a significant over payment for Eichel.
On a personal note, Shibbal likes to reject any trade and gives Buffalo fans a bad rap for over valuing Eichel.
Eichel for Eichel for Byfield, Iafallo, 2022 1st round pick (LAK)
Kempe is younger but Iafallo is signed for a longer period.
Power for Clarke
IMO Buffalo should have traded down to get an extra pick and pass on Power and draft either a RHD or RW.
What do I know, those are the areas where they need prospects.

At first i was absolutley against. The more you look at it, the more i think its actually a GOOD trade for Buf. Byfield and Clarke and most likely a top 15 1st round pick is a great start for this rebuild. any chance we can get a pick that can help us win the Draft lotto for wright is a great pick.

0% chance LA misses the playoffs with Eichel Kopitar Danault. Power was literally just taken over Clarke and was by far the clear cut #1 in the draft, so much so that Buffalo took him despite having a ton of LD depth already.

I agree that Power has more value than Clarke. However, Byfield is the single highest valued prospect in the entire trade, ahead of both Power and Clarke.

So let's pretend that Byfield for Power is an even swap for positional needs (it's not, but let's pretend). That leaves this trade as Vilardi, Clarke, Iafallo, Kempe, & a 1st round pick for Eichel. That's still one A-rated prospect too much. Remove one of Vilardi or Clarke from the trade and it's closer to fair value.

It's moot because LA isn't going to trade Byfield, but even if they did decide he was on the table, this trade is still heavily in Buffalo's favor.
