Rangers would have to seriously consider that. 7 years at $7/million extension with Hertl but they give up Nils. I think I would do it since they have Schneider in the wings. They are a better team with Hertl and Mika down the middle long term than if they keep Nils.

I don't think I view Hertl as highly as you Sharks fans seem to. Most I'd give for him is Chytil + B prospect + 1st.

Hertl isn't the type of player rather Rangers should be trading for or signing long term

Ironically, you might be giving the better package....and even with Hertl on board, C depth is still shallow, while they are stacked (and soon to be highly paid) on the right side of the D.

The Rangers are much better off, keeping Lundqvist the picks and figure what to do their cap and centre position next summer than trade for Hertl even with an extension.

It's hard to gauge the Rangers right now. Feels like they are sooo deep in a lot of areas but when adding a need, it feels they can't afford to cut their loss. Interesting situation.

Agree with that…which is why I say do nothing right now…let the kids play and see what they bring…especially with the new coach. Unless a no brainer type deal lands in their lap, stay put…but it’s unlikely that type of player (Hertl, Eichel, Larkin….few of the commonly mentioned names) is served up on a platter for an easy to swallow return…I mean- the competition also wants these type players…and BUF, SJS, DET, etc also are trying to build a winner!
