ARZ flips Timmons to add to the 1st and 3rd round picks for Kuemper

Created by: Billy739
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 14, 2021
Published: Sep. 14, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
ARZ is in a rebuilding phase and Timmons 23 just entering his Prime
ARZ is rumored to be selling Keller and Chycrun which tells me he's looking for 21 or under prospects to develop.

Timmons fills a HUGE hole in MTL RD between Petry/Savard and Brook in the AHL(not an NHL players similar to Matt Taromina his cap is top AHL D ).
Timmons would give our RD the depth it needs without Weber going forward but most important a partner Romanov can grow beside on Special Teams then hopefully evolve from there.

Primeau gives them a top 10 Goalie Prospect under 23 for their Rebuild
Ylonen gives them MTL top RW prospect from ARZ where his dad played 5 years
Conditional 2nd round pick becomes a 1st if MTL makes SCF with Timmons playing 50% or more
3rd round pick in 2022

At Best Timmons becomes the Heir to Weber's throne (unlikely)
At Worst he plays 3rd pair to a solid #3-4 D who is a Special teams guy like a Ian Cole which we could use right now.

I think most likely though he forms into a Devon Toews type. In the right environment he can step up into the spot light and make his presence felt from Special teams before expanding into a bigger role.

Kids no sure thing
That said he's the best chance i can think of at a top 4 RD prospect under 25 available today

I think Timmins is exactly the type of player Arizona hopes can take huge steps during their rebuilding process. I am not saying that he is slam-dunk by any chance, but he has the chance to form a great defence pairing with Chychrun for a long time. I don't think Arizona really considers moving him, and I most definitely don't think MTL would give up all those assets for him. He is still young (not in his prime) and has 33 NHL games under his belt. 45 if you include playoffs. MTL would be absolutely crazy to throw those assets on him.

Since coyotes targeting timmins from the Avs after Edmotnon drove up the price for no reason....they have been high on him and have been trying to get him from the Avs for awhile

They are not flipping him especially after he signed a cheap 2 year contract. also Arizona is not shopping Chychrun that has been shot down and proven 100% false and made up by Dave Pagnotta

Zona already has a good goalie prospect and needs Timmins much more than Premeau

Conor "Bobby Orr" Timmons. That is such a bad trade for Montreal.

Ylonen has the same potential but is a bigger risk. Primeau is a legit goalie prospect. Its already too much then 2 more decent picks. Its laughable. Devon Toews went for 2 2nd rounders yet Timmons gets so much more?!

Timmins seems like damaged goods and this is a haul for him, the Yotes should take this.

You're looking at a 1-for-1 prospect trade for Timmins.
He's not going to net 4 pieces based on a small sample of NHL play. One conditional pick is reasonable.

So Ylonen and a conditional 2nd/3rd at most. Ideally it would be a LHD prospect instead of Ylonen.

The sold Aiden Hill and Korenar is CLEARLY a Back up or at best a Jake Allen style Tandem goalie

Agreed but i've tried making this trade without prospects just picks and they wanted a 1st
Just trying to find a balance here between what i got above and a 1st + for Timmons

Is he a Top 10 Ranked NHL Goalie Prospect?

Then its not really on Topic is it ?
Its like me trying to compare Mcniven to Adin Hill . . .

Hell i think Mcniven even has better numbers and he's almost our ECHL goalie . .
But that's what you're selling here ?

Dude i know your posts , you've got more common sense then this
Just admit you made an error dont try to BS me with a goalie like Prosvetov hahahahaha

He did not make the most recent top 10 goalie prospects list but was an honorable mention, Primeau was also an honorable mention.

Usually you only trade a prospect for a lower pick after they've failed to meet expectations. As long as they are showing progress, it makes more sense to keep them or trade for an area of need. Picks are never a "need".

Picks don't make sense (especially a 1st+) for a trading partner. A swap of players with potential based on need does.

The golden rule with rebuilds is you sell everyone (good) over 25, keep everyone good under 25. Timmins fills a good role for them. I generally agree with you on his ceiling (fringe first pair, most likely solid second pair guy) but ideally by the time Arizona is out of their rebuild, he'll be in the 25-27 range and hopefully at that ceiling, which is perfect.

Also worth mentioning to both you and Ledge that neither Primeau nor Prosvetov cracked either The Athletic's or Elite Prospects' most recent 2021 goalie rankings (top ten for The Athletic, top fifteen for EP Rinkside). Both were mentioned as top 31 goalies by the Athletic and neither were mentioned by Elite Prospects. Both of those guys are solid prospects but neither are particularly highly touted at this point (I know Primeau had some hype a few years ago) and are occupying about the same tier of goalies. Can't hurt to have two if you're Arizona, but neither is a clear upgrade over the other at this junction.

Arizona might be selling Keller, albeit very unlikely. The theory of Chychrun being shipped us already been shot down. Also, Arizona isn’t trading one of the better prospects they have in their pipeline. Zona is looking to come out of this rebuild a powerhouse, meaning that Chychrun and Timmins won’t be traded. Zona is also highly unlikely to ship out their own prospects as well as they have a rather weak pipeline at the moment.
