if we get rid or uhro, i think its fair, but hertl is still a really good #2 center, who is consistent, can win faceoff, play a ok 2 way game and show good advanced stats and if he comes with a extension i think the price is pretty fair, but his value could drop if rumors says that he want out

Two (presumably) late 1sts, two OK prospects, and a cap dump is the going price for Gretzky (with retention)?

NSH declines.

Probably not, but it’s more than any 2nd line rental center gets.

He’s not a rental when it says he has an extension, can you read or do you just choose to only read certain parts of the trade?

A player actually being traded with an extension is so rare, i don’t really consider it an option. He’s not signed beyond this season, so he’s a rental. What the team acquiring the player does with them after is their business.

I mean looking at that package... I think AZ could've gotten WAY more for Dvorak. Hertl is solid, but that's an overpay. That package would be sufficient to acquire a player like chychrun - which would make this team a lot more lethal than hertl would. The versatility in bostons top pairings would be ridiculous, almost on the Canucks' level wink

Hertl is better than dvorak, hertl is a proven top 2 center and dvorak is not a proven top 2 and doesnt have enough history to make him a sure top2

Given that Hertl has said that he'd like to play on an east coast team with other Czechs and a shot at the Cup, I genuinely think that the Bruins are likely to be a team on his trade list and could easily see him signing an extension there.

Dvorak has four years. Hertl has one.

Change the 2023 1st to a 2nd, and I think it's fair for a retained and extended Hertl. I could still see SJ rejecting it for a return with fewer pieces, but a better 2nd best piece though.

Oh i do. I am a bigger proponent of the eye test than advanced analytics. (I mean i am an islanders fan and they constantly do better than their projections). But jfresh's track record is very good, he is the only model i care about. My point is you obviously havent watched him if you think he hasnt played like a 1C

He’s a good 2C. Number one centers need to contribute more offensively in my opinion. I don’t know why everyone acts like I’m saying he should be in the coast whenever i say he’s a good 2C. A good 2C is a very good NHL hockey player.

I mean the last 3 seasons he was on pace for if he played 82 games
18-19 - 78 points
19-20 - 61 points
20-21 - 70 points

I just think you underrate him a little. Also the way you wrote your original post made it sound like hes just a regular 2C. He imo is beeter thought of as a 1A/1B type of player.

I looked it up for some other post, and among centers over the past two seasons he was 30th in points per game. I’m of the opinion that there aren’t 30 legit number 1 centers in the NHL (which is one reason why there are bad teams). He’s a good 2C. This A prospect, 1st, and another good piece price tag is craziness.

I disagree. Also you have a point with bad teams wo 1Cs (ARI CBJ SEA) but there are also teams with multiple (EDM TOR). Now i dont either believe there are 32 1Cs the same way there arent 32 starters but i do believe just like by goalies there are 32 1Cs/tandems.

I believe that was in an interview he did with a Czech newspaper a couple of weeks ago, but for the life of me I cannot find the link I used to the whole thing translated & it's behind a paywall. He has *definitely* indicated that he'd take less if he had confidence in the team winning.
