Description
So we would just waive DD, pretty sure he would not be claimed, but if he was that's ok. I wouldnt be shocked if he ended up on LTIR, and I also completely understand Yamamoto could be matched, but with Edmonton's cap Im not sure how they navigate that?

Isles don't really have the need for Namestnikov. We're pretty good in the depth department now. Value isn't terrible but not what we need to accomplish right now

I hate the idea of a Yamamoto offer sheet but at the same time I love the idea of a Yamamoto offer sheet

So as a fan of Detroit and a close watcher of the Oilers, I’m not sold on what Yamamoto will be. Wicked good chemistry with Nuge and Drai for 27 or so games, then last year he slumped. A 2nd isn’t a bad price, but I’m not sure he’d be a key player moving forward when our wings are jam packed and I don’t think he’s played C at the NHL level.

Yeah I was torn on how many years, I would like to do the Ol 1 year KK approach but i dont think Yamamoto signs it, so id have to give him a few years to tempt him, and obviously anything more than 4.1 is not worth it, so Its for sure a big risk at 3 years but im ok with losing a 2nd to try it out

Nothing really needle moving here. Worry Yamamoto is a passenger and not a driver, which means he’s just a blocker for Berggren and Raymond (figuring that Vrana, Zadina, and Bertuzzi are top 6 locks, and both of them should be at that level if they are in the NHL).

Moving Namestnikov might happen if Berggren, Raymond, and/or Veleno make the team. He’s be a useful top 9 guy for a playoff team, since he can play all 3 spots, both specialty teams, and can win a face off. Like a Swiss Army knife. NYi really isn’t that team though. TBL, COL, or DAL might be candidates.

Stecher may return more at the TDL as a RHD that can play the 2PP and eat 3/4 minutes in a pinch. Could return a 3rd round pick alone at the TDL.

I don't like you using up all the retention slots when we have players like Leddy and Greiss that are much more expensive and may have to be traded at the deadline.

I especially don't like it when all you get back are Engvall and Komarov, players that never will be top-9 on the team when Berggren and Raymond are ready.

Another reason I don't like those trades is that there's a waiver season coming up in just a few weeks with players like, from Tampa, Raddysh, Katchouk, and Somppi as possible targets to be had for nothing and several more interesting players that other teams are unable to keep.
