We’d want a lot more than this for Nyquist at 2.75. That’s a really good deal. Especially if he bounces back from not playing last year.

It’s not that it’s necessarily bad, but the point of trading Gus is to open up a roster spot, not replace him with another M6 forward. I also feel, particularly with retention, the draft pick compensation should be better for CBJ. I would expect them to be willing to retain more than $750K as well.

They’re definitely not tanking. Building, yes, this season will be more about growth than contention, yes, but no way even remotely close to tanking.

Also, 16m in cap space, but Z’s AAV jumps next year, Roslovic will be due a decent raise, Merzlikins will also likely be re-signed and given a raise, also Boqvist and possibly Laine. Not to mention a small market team with an owner losing money through the pandemic, I can’t see them retaining more than diddly squat.
