if wood was a UFA at the end it would be somewhat fair value or mikh and a B prospect back but an RFA for a rental and a 3rd is not great value. he was on pace for 20+ goals in a regular season so his value is up at the moment.

Mikheyev wanted out and the Leafs declined to oblige. Not sure why there was such a boom in armchair trades with him after that news came out, wouldn't it be the exact opposite?

Mikheyev is one of the big four that Leafs ACGMs like to trade (the other three being Engvall, Dermott, and Kerfoot). I'm assuming his name being in the news just makes him the first one they think of instead of, like, the third.

Ottawa has a lot of options for LW, there's no room for Engvall. They could use a right hand shot middle6 winger, but they also have internal candidates that can fill that role, although none are right hand shots, but they can play the off wing and don't cost assets to acquire.
