Though the picks are nice, sharks don't need, nor want Strome. Sharks also want a top prospect in the package.

6mil? You're dreaming. No interest at all in Strome and swap Robertson and Barron with Chytil if you want to be serious, particularly if he's coming with an extension. The 2022 1st, Chytil and a B prospect will be enough.

Strome would be an easy flip to make. This seems like a solid return for Hertl, although I don't think he would sign that extension and the 2022 2nd/2023 1st conditional seems like a gamble that GMs tend to avoid.

Not the package the Sharks would want. Strome, makes zero sense for us, and Robertson + Barron aren't high-caliber enough nor do they fit our needs or timeline.

The baseline ask is still 1st + Chytil, Schneider or Lundqvist from me

Gauthier intrigues me for a third, but I still feel burned by our last trade!

Why do Rangers fans have some sort of vendetta against Ryan Strome, scored at the same pace as Hertl

We don't. He's a great player. We just look deeper than the stats you find on NHL.com. Hertl is better than Strome by a wide margin.

I really don't think the NYR trade makes sense for either team.

Can’t wait for that dumb logic to lead to another crap trade or signing and then everyone wonders what happened. This team is screwed long term with the cap. Unless they’re bridging people and letting guys walk this team has no chance to contend in real life other than this year and maybe next year pending the center situation. I’m not being dramatic because all it takes is Mika asking for $9-10 mil and Fox doing the same and we’re in trouble. Factor in needing a 2C and having to pretty much resign the entire right side and this team is screwed.

Yes. You are very well being dramatic. Severely overdramatic as a matter of fact.

Zibanejad is not going to get that much money after Couturier set the market. Fox will get the same contract as Makar. Meanwhile, you're out here complaining that searching for a player with more perks than Ryan Strome will automatically destroy our team.

The status quo needs to be improved by 2022-23.

Have fun losing Mika if you think he’s taking less than $8 mil. Even at bare min that’s $17 mil for those two. Leaves $12 mil to find a 2C and fill the other 5 roster spots. Assuming you bridge Kakko and Kravtsov, you’re still left with $7-8 mil to get a 2C and fill out the roster. Good luck. Don’t see how much more you’re improving on Strome contract wise unless you get someone on ELC cause 2C’s are typically expensive.

Strawman. Never said he'll take less than $8M. As a matter of fact you've seen plenty of my ACGM teams for 2022-23, where Zibanejad earns $8.25M. You don't even need to bridge Kakko and Kravtsov when they aren't eligible for arbitration yet. They have no leverage in their contract statuses. So in reality, with the $11.5M or so left over after Zibanejad and Fox, you're going to have $9.5m after merely giving the two of them qualifying offers. That's enough money to find a 2C, a backup goaltender, and ELCs/minimum league contracts to round out the roster. Calm down.

For league min Kravtsov probably goes home to Russia. At the very least on a two year bridge Kakko is gonna get more than $2 mil. Guess Blais is gone too.

Going to Russia would automatically forfeit his opportunity to be paid very handsomely in 365 days after accepting the QO. I'm 99% sure that doesn't happen, especially after he tried that same route back in 2019-20.

And unfortunately, yes, I do believe Sammy Blais is a big question mark for 2022-23 since Ryan Reaves was extended. He'll still be an RFA in the 2022 offseason so at least we can salvage something in return.

I don’t envy Drury’s position right now. He’s got to address the most important position in all of hockey (center) and how he does that in conjunction with his other moves will likely determine this teams fate for the better part of the next decade.
