Caps would give a pretty easy no to this as well. I'm not sure why so many people think Schultz is washed, I thought he had a solid year on the 2nd pair. Not perfect defensively by any stretch, but still a serviceable top four defenseman. Trading away Schultz just creates a hole in the lineup we don't have the money to fill (before someone suggests Nick Jensen, there's a reason we had to sign Schultz in the first place. Jensen isn't a top four defenseman).
I also don't see a place for Drouin in the lineup. Ovechkin, Wilson, Mantha, Oshie, Sprong and Sheary are pretty locked in as the top nine wingers. Having someone with more of a playmaking skillset like Drouin would be nice, but I haven't seen enough out of the rest of his game in the times I've seen him to be convinced that he should get a spot over any of those guys (I would say maybe Sheary, but Laviolette loves his work ethic and versatility). Trade just creates more problems for the Caps.
