I suspect turris will make the team. He’s apparently looked much improved over last year also you gotta give him a chance after showing the level of commitment he provided by staying in Edmonton and training his butt off during offseason.

If yamamoto doesn't sign before season start the only way they get him on the roster is to send Turris down and sign yamo to 1.125 million or to spend assets to trade klefbom which is not happening.

Also don't see Yam signing for less than 2. Give him the same deal Calgary gave Dube. Then send McLeod (waiver exempt) and Lagesson (wont be claimed) to the minors. Call up Benson if there is an injury. That should be 23 and under the cap

Mcleod is up to stay in the NHL as 4C. Yamamoto doesn't have a choice in the matter don't sign then. Edmonton can't afford more than 1.5 million for Yamo in 22-23. Yamamoto will have to sign a contract before the first day of the season or the best they can give him is 1.125Million because of the way the cap and LTIR work. they would have to move turrris off the roster and to the minors to free up that space. Benson won't be waived until he gets his chance to make the team because he is likely claimed.

You are getting a higher cap utilization from just giving Yamamoto a higher salary. It's not about this year it is about 22-23. if yamamoto doesnt sign by season start edmonton's cap ceiling will be 79.8 Million and yamamoto will only fit under that number at 1.125 million.

Ah I see what you are saying now. I don't think you need to worry about that too much we have a month until the season starts

This doesn't reallty have too much to do with this, but from what little I have seen of Lagesson makes me a fan. @oiler's fans, what is the word on him there in Edmonton?

Training camp being in progress has nothing to do with when the season starts. Also it's only rookie camp right now, most main roster camps arent starting until next week, also players have signed half way through camp on multiple occasions

It's just rookie camp and informal "Captain's Skates". I like Yam but he's not high profile enough to drag this thing out... if he misses a bunch of training camp and has a bad year on a bridge deal, that will affect his next negotiation as well. My thoughts are the same as above though, let's give him the Dube deal and move on.

The problem is I feel like he's asking for the Farabe deal

Does that mean he WASN'T training his butt off last summer?

Probably not near the same level veteran who took his job for granted wouldn’t be the first time but he responded to it in a way really respect.

And if he wants that, Holland is doing the right thing to wait him out.

A few things I'd be using from Hollands side:
-Farabee while similar point production has greater goal production
-Farabee was productive in the playoffs when he made it (Yam has 1 assist in 8 GP)
-Farabee improved year over year, Yam regressed from rookie to sophomore year
-Farabee most common forward linemates were JVR and Couturier (with Hayes and Laughton next) where Yam had Draistaitl far and away #1 with Kahun, McDavid and Nuge next on the list. Equivalent players should have noticeably better offensive stats playing big minutes with the 1-2 scorers in the league.

I love what Yam brings but a 6x$5 is outrageous for him.

He isn't getting it. In a salary cap system this is how things work, players take what they can get until they have arbitation or are free agents.
