making the team significantly worse with a downright awful trade seems to be a favourite reaction to losing another 1st round.

Montreal is not trading Allen for Doormat. We already have waaaay better D men on the team and waaaaaaay better prospects coming.

    So the answer is get:
    1. Sundqvist who is pretty well Mikheyev, but without the offensive upside, can hit a bit and take the odd faceoff (oh and also be way more expensive!)
    2. Rakell who is likely better than, but at his age has a lower ceiling then Kase (if Kase can stay healthy).
    3. Tarasenko who is way worse both offensively and defensively and way older and injury prone than Marner
    4. Make a lateral move in nets

And also, pray Rielly's agent missed the entire last 3 months of contracts signed by dmen similar or worse than Rielly when he starts negotiating with Dubas.

Well, here's hoping for a Round 1 victory, as this seems like a pretty clear step backwards.

This is actually genius if you think about it. You cant be embarassed by another first round exit if you dont even make the playoffs, so problem solved

I’m as frustrated as the next Leafs fan, but enough with dumping Marner for questionable return
A/ it ain’t going to happen
B/ elite, elite wingers (with legit chance to finish top 10 in scoring every year) are worth their weight in gold - no way you can win any trade involving him
C/ core is still young, still time to put it all together 🤞
