How bout Burakovsky-Kadri-Hertl instead of Hertl-Kadri-Burakovsky?

What extension? I’m generally curious how Colorado affords that and then the next year MacKinnon.

Would like a D prospect coming back instead of 3 forwards. I’m sure the sharks would be interested in Barron with wanting/needing RD.

Cant see San Jose doing a sign and trade without Newhook being involved

Johnson and Compher both expire the same time as Mac

they just wont be able to extend Burakovsky if they sign Hertl. They can throw some money around on a signing for the top 6. They arent Leafs or Lighting Cap strung

Kaut and Bowers are not interesting at all, nothing against them but the Avs should try and win this year with a TDL acq and take Hertl at 50% but offer a better return. Theyre deep this year but will lose UFA's regardless. And they're deep prospect/ asset wise - they should prioritize winning.

As good as Hertl is, I'm not sure I'd do it if I'm Colorado. Newhook should be the long term 2C and Colorado is going to need those young cheap players that they'd be dealing away to play significant roles in the future. Unless you're positive that Hertl is the missing piece, I'd say focus your energy on getting a more physical defense

Honestly I don't see the need. This team on paper is as good as anyone except maybe Tampa.

I wouldn't be expending assets today. Wait until midpoint of the season and see if either someone gets injured or if they don't play the same way we expect on paper and then make a trade to fill the hole

That's the general consensus but Hertl holds a lot of cards since there will be only 3 teams on his trade list so, if he does get traded, it's a "best offer" scenario.

If that was the situation sure, but we dont really know that at this moment. Sharks want to resign him first of all, trade is a last resort

I'm sure it is but he has to want to re-sign and he isn't happy right now - he has already said he isn't sure he will re-sign. Hard to say if it's 50/50 or more like 70/30 one way or the other. I guess we'll find out between now and February, right?

That would be my guess - Wilson needs to get with the program on the rebuild rather than prolonging the inevitable.
