To be fair the issue is not so much about the fact he's been accused of wrongdoing, but the fact his team mates hate him and want him out. It's pretty hard to see him return to a locker room that wants him out.

If they want out, they can play some games and perform in such a way that increases their trade value.

my point is. SJ is not bouncing back this year. I think you will see the team suspend kane for the year and probably find a way to terminate his contract since the rest of the team does not want him there

And then watch comments like your's flood the thread.

Or you can do what you're supposed to do and make your dismissive criticisms a little more constructive.

Things are so precarious now with the Sharks...

If the team continues to lose, I'm of the opinion that they should truly blow it up. Although I'd still try to retain Hertl longterm, which apparently management still wants to do. What I mean by blow it up is trade Meier and Labanc for starters. Trade Balcers/Barabanov/Cogliano/Bonino for mid-late rounders. Trade Burns at all costs and maximize the return even if you have to retain 50%. Trade Couture too. Build around an extended Hertl and Eklund.

If the team starts winning this year though, which I actually think they have a decent chance at doing (at least winning to be good enough to qualify for the POs), I think it'll solve a lot of problems.

But if DW doesn't trade Hertl and Hertl walks for nothing at the start of free agency next offseason, then that should be the final nail in the GM coffin for DW -- regardless of if the Sharks are winning/losing. He should have a better idea by then about what Hertl may do, have his guys conduct a cost/benefit analysis report with a host of scenarios, and pick one that absolutely does not risk having Hertl walk for nothing.

There are only 3 teams in the entire NHL where Hertl will allow himself to be traded.

That severely limits what the Sharks can get in return.

People that say his 3 team trade list doesn't mean anything forget that Taylor Hall wouldn't waive his NMC unless he was traded to Boston.

I'm basing a trade for Hertl on two things.

1. The 2nd Matt Duchene between Ottawa and Columbus as a means of establishing a comparable.

2. What Kevin Kurz said about what the Sharks want in a Hertl trade

--- A 1st round pick

--- At least one top prospect that's a little closer to being NHL-ready

(Preferably a centreman or a defenceman that can replace Merkley or Burns on the blueline)

Some might think Beecher is not a top prospect, but he was recently drafted in the first round and can play centre.

Anybody who says my Hertl trades are atrocious are not seeing the big picture.

Anybody who thinks the Sharks should get more than two first round picks will be as miserable as when bias_its_self and jupetto comment on my posts.

Once a Hertl trade is posted on Capfriendly, you'll see it for yourself.

Which three teams do you believe are on Hertl's trade list?

My guess is Boston, Tampa and Vegas.

Knowing what happened with Taylor Hall and that Hertl can only be traded to three teams, the Bruins will have absolutely no incentive to give up another decent piece.

Just because He was drafted in the 1st doesn’t mean he’s worth a first. He’s not a high end prospect like the sharks are looking for. I like that he’s a centerman because that’s a great need. Just not enough value. That Duchene deal at the time brought a prospect, a player and two first round picks. I personally would prefer the sharks get two first round picks and a prospect like that deal than this one.

This whole only three team trade list can easily go out the window if a contender was interested in trading for him. What is he going to say? He’d rather not play for a cup in San Jose this season than join a playoff team on the last year of his deal?

1. There are some players who were drafted in later rounds who were supposed to go in the first round.

Prospects sometimes have different values to different teams

2. There might come a point where the Sharks won't be able to land that high end prospect and will just have to take the most value they can get.

Don't say I didn't warn you or anybody else who commented on this post.

3. If you look a little closer at the Duchene deal, Ottawa only got one first round pick and two middling prospects that played a combined total of 11 NHL games.

Duchene was never going to sign an extension in Columbus that would give us another first.

If anything, this trade for Hertl is better for San Jose than the 2nd trade for Duchene was for Ottawa.

4. If you're expecting two first round picks and a prospect while Hertl is only allowing a trade to three different teams, you're going to be one sad Sharks fan at the trade deadline.

Don't hold your breath.

This whole NMC for Taylor Hall in Buffalo could have easily gone out the window if a contender not named Boston was interested in trading for him.

What did Hall actually say?

Trade me where ever you want, so you can maximize the return for the team that is trying to trade me?

No.

Hall wanted to go play for Boston and he used his NMC to prevent a trade to any other team.

I expect Hertl will do the same thing by preventing a trade to any team other than the three on his list.

Beecher's likely ceiling is 3rd line. that 1st is going to be a late first as Boston is still a contender. How does that get a top 25 center in the game? It simply doesn't and you should know that? I don't need to waste everyones time and to explain why this trade is so bad its not even funny

You say this and you explain yourself anyway.

The only time you're wasting is your own.

Considering you spent between 2-3 hours trying to come up with a comeback because you didn't like how I responded to your petty insults.

No need to be a tough guy when you don't appear to have the makings of one.

Danny O'Regan's likely ceiling was a fringe AHL player.

That 2019 1st was late because the Sharks were still a contender.

That conditional 4th round pick never amounted to anything.

How does that get a top 25 winger in the game?

It simply doesn't but you wouldn't know that unfortunately.

That trade was so bad, it's not even funny.

And you know what?

It happened.

Go ahead.

Try posting a Hertl trade and see what happens.

You'll be glad you did.
