Bowman must have seen something in him that we don't. Either that or it's just a classic Boneheaded Bowman Move™.

Its a reach but not so crazy. He was projected to go second/third round and remember the 32nd pick was a second round pick a couple years ago.

I drafted Allan at 101st. I'll take the value boost of being a 1st rounder haha
Yeah guy's fall in love with prospects and sometimes it forces you to take them way too early.
I know this because...... I traded up early in the 2nd round to select Kotkov in my first draft in my dynasty league. not one of my best moments lol

Ah yes...I can fondly remember Doug MacLean telling his scouts to stuff it, because he was dead set on drafting one Gilbert Brule.

Instead of their preferred player, some punk named Anze Kopitar.

I know! Why do we even pay these guys. Sheesh.

Anze Kopitar would have been cool, and drafting Travis Zajac the previous year would have been even better.

Zherdev - Kopitar - Nash
Chimera - Fedorov - Vyborny
Sestito - Zajac - Boll

as our top three lines for 2007-08 wouldn't have been the best three, but still awesome to watch.

As would have trading Alexandre Picard for Chris Pronger, as purportedly almost happened.

Le sigh. Doug MacLean was the worst.

Oh yeah, and Nolan Allen. ELC. Good contract.

OK but why? What's the advantage to doing this now? He's clearly not NHL ready for 2-3 years...

They also signed Beaudin and Boqvist immediately after they were drafted. Allen will slide for 2 years and probably never play a game for us after that (if he's not traded).

Well he was drafted in the first round so he’ll be traded for sure.
