Ok not looking to get myself crucified here but, had this thought Habs get star Leafs get forward depth plus. I think Mitch is worth a lot so I paid alot. With that said I am well aware MB would never do this. Only fun......Ok let me have it.

The last thing the Leafs need is to spend $30M on centers. The last thing the Habs need is to move a center for another winger. So no, it doesn't start with Suzuki.

"It starts with Suzuki" is getting old. It's a knee jerk reaction without any thought behind it. Any Suzuki trade has to involve a top 6C.

Would love to have Marner. Don't have the space for him.
Toronto also shouldn't trade him. He's just a scapegoat for a team that has underperformed.

guess what, it starts with suzuki and it being "old" doesnt change that. There is nothing else the habs have that would centerpiece a Marner trade. If that isnt good enough for the Canadiens then it simply doesnt happen

I agree that the leafs should not trade Marner he belongs in Toronto but clearly the leafs need to move one of their big salaries and add depth. That's all I was getting at, with that said Toffoli and Anderson are great assets and would in my opinion do just that.

It doesn't even matter if it's good enough for the Canadiens, it's not good enough for the Leafs. Suzuki isn't a need for them.
You want to trade Marner and make the team better, look at Caufield (top 6W on an ELC for 2 years), Petry (top 4 RHD), Evans (affordable bottom 6 defensive C), Toffoli (top 6W) etc.
I'm not suggesting that as a trade, but that is an example of how to better allocate Marner's $11M IF he's being moved.

It’s getting old sure, But when MTL fans propose trades to get other teams young stars with the usual picks and depth players…..u gotta figure teams want quality for quality and Suzuki (and maybe Caufield) r the only young guns that could be comparable

Call them out as well. It's a case by case basis.
Here, the Leafs need wing depth, defense, and lower cap hits. Suzuki simply isn't a fit here.
If it were Tavares instead of Marner, it would make sense.

Every team does it sure, but just stating that’s where “starting with Suzuki” comes from

“Fit” isn’t the question here it’s value
