Winnipeg likely stays with what they have now going into the season. But for discussion's sake, the Jets don't touch the first two trades and the third isn't necessary either.

The Jets have zero need for Hertl and Hertl will be looking for more than Wheeler on a long term deal. For the Calgary trade, that is a lot for Winnipeg to give up for a lateral move. It's just pointless. Ekholm would have been nice, but that ship has sailed.

A few things. Do you think Wheeler would waive his NMC to go to a non contender like San Jose? Another thing as much as I want Wheeler traded he is one of the few Jets players that has a right hand shot. If there was a way to try and get a player who had a right handed shot for Wheeler I would do that instead. But I understand getting anything for Wheeler is a plus. I thought I heard that Hertl has said he hates Winnipeg. So I think he wouldn't have Winnipeg on his 3 team trade list.

With Morrissey, I would like to hit the pause button with shipping him out of Winnipeg. I know he has had not the greatest couple of seasons but I think he plays better with better talent beside him. Trouba helped him a lot and so did Buff. Playing with Demelo seemed to be pretty good but I want to see how he plays with Schmidt. I think this might kick start Morrissey to the player he once was.

I would love to ship Stanley out of Winnipeg for Ekholm. I really like that deal. People are saying that Dylan Samberg is going to be a Ekholm type player so it would be really beneficial if Samberg could be able to watch Ekholm practice and maybe chat with him at the IcePlex in Winnipeg during practices.

Why retain salary on both Hertl and Wheeler? Just retain $1.25mil on Wheeler and it's the same result with half of the paperwork.

Edit: wait I just remembered Wheeler has 3 years left on his contract now it makes sense

Sharks decline, they want futures not another aging, bloated contract and Hertl certainly cancels a trade to Winnepeg with his NTC.

Sharks want a first, a high-end top prospect, and another pick for Hertl not an older aging player. Also, Hertl openly said in an interview he doesn’t like Winnipeg.

while i can see your point on wheeler we retain 3 mill so it gives san Jose the chance to flip him but at the same time wheeler does not fit on the jets and is no longer the player he once was and hertl can play that top 6 role perfectly the other trades simply make our team better and improve our chances for the playoffs
