Definitely, when he was in San Jose Kane had both Jumbo and Pavs to keep his ego in check. Problems only started after both left. I think if Kane was moved to a team with a strong leadership core the locker room issues would be non-existent to minimal.

I'd also be fine with just a 1st in return. He's obviously worth more (equal to Hertl), but GMs may not realize his attitude could be kept in check.

4 yrs retention i doubt anyone does that. Burns and kane are with us for 2 more years. you get those contracts down to 2 yrs left then we could talk about retention.

Like limiting the years.. No. If you retain to retain for the length of the deal and you can only retain on 3 contracts at time

Like if he plays a certain of games in the season they require him they retain a certain number

From what i can see in the CBA a fixed percentage has to be determined based on the AAV of the contract so a games played would not be valid.
