I think it would be interesting to see what you guys think of the moves that SevenLeg , Club_de_Hockey_le_Canadien , and I have made in the GM game. We are in charge of Montreal and we are trying to contend. I'll sort the moves in tiers:
--------------------------
SMALL MOVES
--------------------------
To MIN:
2024 7th MTL

To MTL:
Nate Thompson
--------------------------
To TOR:
2023 5th MTL

To MTL:
Veeti Miettinen
--------------------------
CAP CLEARING
--------------------------
To CBJ:
Paul Byron
Jakub Dobes
2022 3rd ANA
2022 5th MTL

To MTL:
No return
--------------------------
To CAR:
Arturri Lehkonen
Cedric Paquette
2024 4th MTL

To MTL:
2024 3rd CAR
--------------------------
NOT SMALL BUT NOT BIG
--------------------------
To VGK:
2024 6th MTL
Dimitri Kostenko

To MTL:
Nicolas Roy
--------------------------
To MIN:
2022 4th MTL
2023 4th MTL

To MTL:
Victor Rask (2m retained by MIN)
--------------------------
BLOCKBUSTERS
--------------------------
To NSH:
Josh Anderson
Ben Chiarot
Kaiden Guhle
Mattias Norlinder
Logan Mailloux
2022 3rd MTL
2022 4th TBL
2022 1st (can be swapped with 23 1st after the lottery)

To MTL:
Roman Josi
Frederic Allard
2023 3rd NSH
David Rittich (625k retained by NSH)
--------------------------
To PHI:
Mike Hoffman
Sami Niku
2022 3rd CAR

To MTL:
Claude Giroux (1m retained by PHI)
--------------------------
Current Lineup: Team Page

I really like that Byron trade wink , Lehky arguably could've gone for more but you had to clear cap, Josi trade was pretty good and so was the Giroux trade

Since 2019-20 (Chiarot's first season on the Canadiens), he has taken 40 minor penalties and only drawn 13 for a penalty differential of -27, the worst in the league.

I meant that I'd like to see Hoffman with suzuki & caufield on offense, not the PP

I have zero doubts right now that Wideman's gonna be playing over Niku even though I would like to see niku playing

Oh, sorry, not sure why I assumed you were talking about the PP.

So with Hoffman probably playing his 1st game today, can we score more than 1 goal and can someone not named Drouin score?

Eye-test doesn't approve 27th ranked 2nd line

But a defence below average is quite right, even with Eddy back.

A projection is based on past results, Drouin and Anderson haven't had particularly good seasons this past year and a half.

“Forwards Mathieu Perreault and Evans and defenseman Sami Niku kept at it long after the rest of the team left the ice. Head coach Dominique Ducharme indicated that Evans was not yet ready to return, but he expects the young center to be back in action very soon.”

So that means the lines tonight will be:
Toffoli - Suzuki - Caufield
Drouin - Dvorak - Anderson
Hoffman - Brooks - Gallagher
Lehkonen - Paquette - Armia
Romanov - Petry
Chiarot - Savard
Kulak - Wideman

Just separate Chiarot-Savard, it's not that hard, other than that, should be good

Paquette is a natural C, so I’m not too upset.

What does David Savard do? Because I don’t think I’ve ever seen him actually do anything good, he’s sort of just there.

He's useless if he's paired with a worse clone of himself. He needs to be with a puck-moving defenseman, like Gostisbehere.

My god, I know everyone wants to crap on Chiarot, and rightfully so but this entire defense is embarrassing. Petry has been atrocious. Romanov has taken a step backwards. Wideman is not an NHL dman. Savard I have no idea what he's doing. Kulak.............Kulak is our best dman right now. Don't get me started on forwards. Anderson is the only guy really trying this year.

My gut tells me the players have lost hope with Price and Weber gone and a hunch is that with Bergevin not resigned yet, they're not killing themselves until that situation is settled.
