Gabriel and Brooks have 2 way contracts, they can be buried in the minors.

I personally think Brooks deserves a roster spot this season, especially over a one dimensional player like Goose. Bunting will start in the top 6 and Goose wont do well in the bottom 6. Brooks is a safer choice

Bunting hasn't done anything to earn a top 6 spot, Goose despite being 1 dimensional is better and more proven player than both of them

Bunting provides very good forechecking pressure and has proved himself as a capable scorer. Yes, his shooting percentage isn't sustainable, but he will fill the Zach Hyman shaped hole in the top 6.

That is purely your own speculation based on almost nothing

Bunting: 10 goals through 21 games, including a hattrick, on the 2021 Arizona Coyotes.

Gusev: 4 goals, through 31 games. Could not crack Florida's playoff roster.

Looking at the Leafs left side, I think it's safe to say Bunting starts in the top 6. If my speculation is based on "almost nothing", what is yours based on?

I see Gusev starting with Marlies, call up potential in case of injury. M&M don’t need offense from lw spot - they need a heavy body that can forecheck, offer protection, bury a rebound, etc. and brooks deserves a chance at 4C, Spezz on the wing

I fear Bunting will be another failed experiment. Like bringing in Vasey, Galchenyuk, Malgin, Petan etc.

I would see Ritchie and Kerfoot as 1 and 2 LW....the Leafs have enough C depth with Kampf, Spezza, Brooks and Engvall to make up the 3, 4 and 5 C.

Or even Mikhey making the JT line again, if he doesn't break thru this season it will be his last.

Bunting 3 or 4 LW who can move up if injuries occur.

Bunting will be going into the AHL Hall of Fame, 330 games played and 207 points.... Can't say he hasn't paid his dues.

Gusev is 0 games in the minors...that will not change, he'll sign with a Khl team rather than play in the Ahl.

Mine is based on Goose being as way more proven player with more than a 21 game sample size

If Gusev doesn't land a NHL spot, I would think he flies home to the Khl rather than play in the Ahl.

Unless he signs a NHL contract that nets him 750k even in the Ahl. But signing a 70k-100k Ahl contract, no, he can make more in the Khl than that.

I think brooks would get claimed. I think we might have to trade Mikheyev if we want Gusev and a 22 man roster

Can this team make the playoffs ?

The Atlantic Division isn't the cake walk the North Division was last year.

The "easy" wins by defeating the Sens and Sabres are more challenging than defeating the 2 Florida teams. For some reason Ottawa and Buffalo always play spoiler to the Leafs.

Do you forget the Leafs were going to miss the playoffs in 2020 if not for the play in playoff qualifier.

The years Toronto made it Florida didn't though. Florida is the better team now. I'm not saying they won't make it but it's definitely not a lock

U also forget that muzzin, Reilly, Tavares missed 6-8 weeks each with injuries, marner missed 3 weeks, and that defense had barrie and Ceci in their top 4. A healthy leafs team is a lock to make the playoffs

How do you consider a team a lock if they will be fighting for a wildcard spot ?
Bos, Tbay and Flo will most likely end 1st, 2nd, 3rd in the Division.

I mean that’s ur opinion? And I have my own, simple as that. I could simply say that Boston Tampa and Toronto will be 123 and Florida will be #4, it’s all subjective. And Toronto is better than Florida on paper, at every position. You could also argue that leafs have the best offense in the division and the second best d behind tampa. I think ur forgetting that the Leafs are an amazing reg season team, and have been for the last 5 years. If they are healthy, they will most certainly challenge for the top spot in the Atlantic, and be a lock for the playoffs.
