Lowry is a very important player for the Jets. Top penalty killer and a beast 5 on 5. Always willing to drop the mitts to protect teammates. Leader both on and off the ice. Dave Lowry is also one of the coaches. He would be tough to move for the Jets.

Blueger is top PK guy and very good 5 on 5, I just like lowry for what you said about his toughness. Dont get me wrong, blueger is a heart and soul guy, plays the right way and is going to be a assistant captain once the core moves on, but Lowry with McGinn on Pens 3rd line would be fun to watch.

Is Lowry really an upgrade though? I'm not sure I see the rationale unless it's just to get bigger/tougher. I think Blueger is actually a better hockey player or at the very least equally as good in different ways.

The Jets are likely staying with the lineup they have right now and Lowry is a big part of that. Lowry also just signed a 5 year extension, so True North won't turn around and thank him for his loyalty by trading him. He won't be traded, unless he asks for a move.

I just don't think the upgrade is significant enough to trade away some decent futures. I also think Blueger for the price is better value than Lowry.

I think in general the Pens are very well set in their bottom six. They are chock full of options, especially once Geno returns. The areas where things could get dicey is the top six and bottom pairing RD. Will Zucker bounce back? Will Hextall want to change dynamic up there and surround Sid and/or Geno with more grit?

Not that Jfresh's WAR stats are law, but I do think they're solid stats, Blueger definitely outperforms Lowry in most categories. I do get the desire to get bigger and tougher, but I think it's better to do that on the wing and defense.

since they made sure they extended him 5 years midway through last season, the cost is unattainable for a team who improved over the summer and looking to make some noise with a playoff run.

Lowry's a lifer in a Jets jersey it seems, you'd have to offer significantly more/better to pry him from Chevy's cold dead hands.

At best this is a lateral move and neither team does it. Wpg just signed Lowry to an extension and know/are comfortable with him and the chemistry he has with the team. Blueger is the younger, cheaper, and just as good. As the pens are also comfortable with what they know and has chemistry here. Seems silly for either of the teams to do
