Same with Pettersson.
I'll cut to the chase. They're too similar to be proclaiming one is head and shoulder over the other. DeHaan's contract is a little higher, he's older, and his injury history is very real. So, if you talking in terms of of asset value in a trade....I can more see where you're coming from....TBD on the term for MP though. If you talking about the ability to play the #2LD...they're too similar.
By the way, I actually have DeHaan on the 3rd pair RD on my roster. Kalynk the #1LD for the hawks and Stillman the #3LD. Divide up the experience with the young blood.
Since I don’t watch the pens very much, I think using Jfresh’s advanced stats visualization cards works well to fill in the gaps that I don’t know about certain players. It’s absolutely fair to question these cards if you have a good understanding of advanced stats and can argue as to why they are an incomplete evaluation of a player.
Anyways, now that the disclaimer is over here’s what the cards basically say and a
Link to view them.
De Hann is a average- above average top 4 D man, he struggled on a bad hawks PK, and like Exo said he has injury concerns and is slightly higher paid than Pettersson.
Pettersson is an average-above average 4-6 D man, or at the very least he plays third pair minutes without much exposure to PK or PP. He’s younger, but you have to bet big on him realizing top 4 potential which he is already getting paid as.
In any case, De Hann is a good Top 4 D by advanced stats when he is healthy enough to play.
