This would need to have an extension in place. I don't see PHI trading two young, top 6 forwards with term for UFA Gaudreau unless there is an extension already in place -- even then, why not just go for him as a FA and keep Konecny + Farabee? I don't see the allure for PHI.
If Trevling were offered this and declined, there isn't enough gunpowder on this planet for how hard he should be shot into the sun
Shocking that a Philly fan is saying this, i take it you forgot how good Gaudreau is. Obviously there if there is no extension Philly declines but again, if there is one its a lot closer than you think

even if there is an extension that offer is lobsided in calgarys favour

Quoting: Depressed_Flames_Fan
Flames would want a 1st or 2nd
Throw in Tkachuk and maybe the Flyers will comply.

Farabee and Konecny are solid players but neither are remotely as good as Gaudreau

Gaudreau is also 28 and any extension would take him into his mid 30's at the very least with a 7.5 AAV, vs Farabee who was just one of the best 5v5 goalscorers in hockey as a 20 year old and Konecny who's 24 and proven he can play at nearly a PPG pace with edge to his game, both with term at ~5ish million cap hits. You're talking about a slightly better player who would be on a much worse contract and likely only going to decline vs 2 much younger players on better deals and reason to believe they'll only get better. Not to mention Philly could wait literally one year and sign Gaudreau without giving up any assets

A player being better doesn't mean more valuable. Giordano is arguably better than Vince Dunn right now, but who is more valuable?
Farabee's trade value, having just signed a very good contract as a top 6er on the rise is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than Gaudreau's at one year without a contract. That's a non-starter. Konecny seems to have leveled off as a solid 2nd line RW. Not as good as Gaudreau, but still signed to an amount that balances their value.
What you aren't picking up on here - just because one player is better doesn't mean you can put together a return of "lesser skill" forwards and call it a fair package. Johnny will get a healthy return of picks and prospects, but no way is he getting two young solid top 6ers on term as an expiring contract. If you want Farabee in a return package, Tkachuk is the buy.

Lol Farabee doesn't even start the conversation for Tkachuk. Keep your second liners.
No idea why you are trying to use "Gaudreau with only 1 year left" as an argument, I clearly stated extension

The Flyers aren't in the financial situation to send away two younger players on already solid contracts for another older player who is prepared to make over 7. This is an aging core that is trying to get younger, so they won't give up the two young top 6ers they have for this type of trade. Even if there is an extension, you're trying to point the finger saying we're undervaluing Gaudreau, when really you are grossly undervaluing both Konecny and Farabee. PHI says no to this any way you look at it.
York and a first seems like the more reasonable return in the case that JG is traded, but there's not enough cap to keep him around, and they'd sooner keep the younger guys around.

Neither team is in a situation to be trading core players, the entire concept is flawed. Both teams underperformed last year and are looking to bounce back
