Bringing Dvorak and Domi back together round 3

Created by: Billy739
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 20, 2021
Published: Sep. 20, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
First in Junior , then in ARZ so why not in MTL?

Domi as a 3rd Center behind Dvorak is very servicable
Maybe he can help him progress at a higher pace and make it past 50% win rate
Maybe Domi moves back to Dvoraks LW until he can win Faceoffs consistently taking secondary faceoffs

Either way with Domi being a player with 1 year left coming off a down year who had success here in MTL its worth the gamble i figure. I cant imagine CBJ has all their eggs in the Domi basket given his production since the Pandemic

Potential to have Lehkonen and two 2nd round picks if they flip Byron (at worst likely get more)
For Domi's final year after a Career Low year with half his rookie seasons production after being traded.
Trades
MTL
  1. Domi, Max
Additional Details:
CBJ can flip Byron as is or retain more for better picks.
Contenders will be interested at that cap with his skillset
At worst a 2nd round pick depending on options available at TDL

Lehkonen gives them an RFA they can use
Lehkonen is a consistent player he just turned into a bottom 6 player when we were relying on him being a top 6 guy.

Lehkonen could blow up in CBJ like Petry and Danault did here.
He's still young he's just in need of a change (much like Domi)
CBJ
  1. Byron, Paul ($750,000 retained)
  2. Lehkonen, Artturi
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Byron at 2.625m cap

-Conditional 2nd becomes a 1st if MTL makes ECF

Micheal Ryder did
Mathieu Schneider did
Patrice Brisbois did
Francois Boulion did

I'm not saying its a yearly event
But Remember Domi's issue was with Claude Julien trying to move him from Center after a great year because he was struggling
Which only began to happen after Drouin went out on injury.

Given most of our Coaching staff is different and Domi was traded to get value not because he was on the GM's **** list
I think he could return despite not being french

Beloved ?
When did this happen?

He's just the only player left from MB first draft.
Or any draft he did from 2012-2015 for that matter

You know Bergevin loves Lehky, same way Claude Julien loved Lehky
Trading him would be a bad idea, he is such a great depth player
You need guys like him in the playoffs

You do but you also need room after committing to Gallagher,Toffoli,Hoffman Anderson and Armia longterm with Caufield here
moving him out gives Evans and Poehling more of an opportunity to log minutes and grow in what now an extremely deep forward group

Domi coming in gives them a year to prove 1/2 can step up from 4th line to take 3rd Center
MTL gets a chance at returning Domi to a 70pts player in their attempt at a playoff run

While Claude played Lehkonen a bunch and from his first interview when asked which players stood out naming Lehkonen
Last year he played his first season with 50 games or less at 47 and 15-16minutes under CJ to 13 minutes under Ducharme

He used Lehkonen when needed largely due to injuries but nothing like years past
MB actions reflected that giving Lehkonen the minimum required offer required as a RFA

At this point even MB realizes its almost 10 years after his draft date and its time to allow others the chances he's had to grow

Your post, i assume, is in an attempt to make a good playoff run. Given that, here's my take :
Hockey wise, this is great as you now have a 3rd line with talent up to the roof . Domi stick handling and speed is just a thing of beauty so wouldn't mind watching him for another year but...
Problem is you loose a lot of leadership. Byron imo are the two less selfish players the HABS have, and Domi did not show that kind of team devotion when he was there.
Might seem absurd, but would rather trade Hoffman if I'm to get Domi, If Domi 's inclined to sign3-4 years at a price similar to Hoffman, then, that's even better.
