IMO, these are more the reasonable trades. MIN needs a guy like Hertl, BUT he won't be there next year FOR SURE...so that's a business decision they'd need to make. I could see Evander Kane going to AZ, the trade value is certainly right. Kane's salary is decreasing over time. They could actually use at least 1 veteran on the team. the NYI, is the hardest part to me. Burns is still expensive and defensively not sound, BUT NYI could use a puck mover that NOT Erik Gustafsson. I don't see how NYI fit him on their roster, but all in all...they should make that trade.

Just don't think the Isles would want Burns, even at $5m, for the next 4 years. We are almost out of cap hell. I'd rather wait til the summer and use that money a little bit wiser on a younger free agent

EDIT: also handedness may not seem like a huge thing but it is to Trotz. He likes a true left-right pairing. Isles already have Pulock-Dobson-Mayfield down the right. Not sure Barry would want anyone playing on their off side unless there was a significant injury

I said MORE than reasonable to be fair. He's a SJS fan. If these are his asking prices...it's more than reasonable. I can promise that you're going to overrate Burns. 1 way Dmen can be useful in the correct system...NYI needs an offensively minded Dman. It's why Gus is on PTO, BUT Burns is not good at all defensively. Paying $5M a year for a 36-40 year old Dman isn't the best choice. I could see NYI simply saying no and I couldn't blame Lou at all. If the wheels truly fall off Burns, then he'd be a cap dump.

Hertl is a good piece. obvsiouly, SJS should maximize his return. The 1st and 2nd are good pieces. Should he get better prospects with it...ok maybe.
Evander Kane - SJS should terminate his contract. He's been a bad teammate literally every place he's been since juniors. I don't know what to tell you if you can't see it one.

Sharks don’t know what Dahlen will be yet in the NHL so he isnt going to be moved and it’s a bad trade. Potentially two top 6 wingers and a 2nd for at best a third line guy and a 4th. The Hertl deal isn’t what they have asked for and is a great deal for minny. Sharks want a first and an A prospect and they certainly aren’t sending a pick back the other way. I don’t think the Burns deal is awful, however the Sharks aren’t going to retain $12 mil in cap from his deal and take a cap dump for a late 2nd and a fourth.

Turn the 2nd into a 1st in the Burns deal OR have SJ retain only 1.5mil and it's a deal.

Sharks don't counteroffer for the other two deals... just straight reject.
