Yeah. A guy that just help the Canadiens get to the Stanley Cup Finals and had a pretty solid postseason for what it was worth is an ECHL caliber player. That totally makes a lot of sense.

Staal at this point is veteran depth, shouldn’t get more than 750k and occasional 4th line time

Staal was worse than Dwight King for MTL this postseason
Never seen a worse player than him at the NHL level

No, this is hypothetical. That said, I can see it happening if only because the Hurricanes could use another forward and specifically a veteran. With Jake Gardiner bound for LTIR this season, they have the cap to do it.
